During the late session of the
F* a petition filed in said court on the
af- 19th day of November, A. D. 1915,
in a suit numbered 3065 on the docket
of said court, wherein Mary McDan-
derstood well enough where
they led; owing to the fact that
droves of cattle were driven
along this thoroughfare, those
who remember having seen the
right-of-way, which has not
been obliterated to this good
day, say that it was perhaps as
wide as from the Lufkin Na-
tional Bank to the city stand-
pipe. Such a widened area was
made necessary by reason that
hundreds of head of cattle
might come passing along at
any hour of the day or night,
being driven by the owner and
his helpers. Just here the writ-
er finds the opportunity to re-
fer in this instance to some of
the relay stations that were to
be found along the route. In
dwelling upon such things it
will be said that one of the most
noted ones was in the vicinity
of Monterey, this county, about
twenty-five miles from Lufkin,
as the crow flies, and right in
the region of Mr. Eli Gilliland,
who lives in that vicinity and is
now looked upon as one of the
most substantial and influential
citizens of the county. It was
here where a "coral” was main-
tained, and the drivers of cattle
would keep their seats in the
saddle far into the night if it
became necessary in an effort
' to reach this haven of rest for
the night before them. Upon
I wanted to—and incidentally
1. That on or about the 17th day
at December, A. D. 1904, plaintiff was
duly and legally married to defend-
ant in the Parish of Bossier, State of
Louisiana, and continued to live with
her as her husband until about the
1st day of May, A. D. 1905.
2. That plaintiff has been an actual
bona fide inhabitant of the State of
Texas for a period of twelve months,
and has resided in the said County
of Angelina, where this suit is filed,
a period of six months next preceding
the filing thereof, having become an
inhabitant of said State on the 8th
day of November, A. D. 1905, and a
resident of said county on the 8th day
of November, A. D. 1905.
3. That at all times while married
to defendant, plaintiff was kind and
affectionate to her and at all times
provided for her support and main-
tenance and endeavored to live peace-
ably and happily with her, treating
her with consideration and forbear-
ance and using every effort to render
their marriage relations congenial and
harmonious; that he has been guilty
of no act bringing about the herein-
after described acts, omi.-sions and
conditions on defendant’s part. nor
did he cause, procure or consent to
said acts, omissions and conditions.
4. That at the date of the transactions
hereinafter mentioned. plaintiff and
defendant were living near the town
of Benton, in Bossier Parish, State of
Louisiana, at which said place plain-
tiff was engaged in farming. That
