ed graduate degrees from the
University of Texas at Dallas dur-
ing summer commencement exer-
cises August 23. \ I
The University awarded 280
undergraduate and | graduate
degrees during the informal exer-
cises. !
Those receiving their degrees
are Julia Ann Buchanan, 215 Ex-

master’s degree in special educa-
tion; Susan Lorraine Patterson,

Fabric painting classes will be
offered October 9, 16, 23 and 30
from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at
the Heard Natural Science
Museum.
Sherrell Schroeder will teach
the class which will be instruction
on using acrylic paints to create
designs on cotton/poyester shirts,
producing a finished, decorated
garment with a “one-of-a kind”
look. A sample shirt made by
Sherrell is on display in the
museum lobby.
After completing the class
students will be able to create
their own designs and patterns on
shirts, skirts, etc., especially
suitable as gifts for the holiday
season.
Cost for the 12 hours of instruc-
tion is $25. To enroll call the
museum at 542-5012. The
museum is located north of Allen
on FM 1378 one mile east of State
Highway 5.

The citizen’s advisory council
of the North Texas Municipal
Water District, NTMWD, will
meet in a workshop session Tues-
day at Rountree Elementary
School library and will consider
requesting the addition of a Lucas
citizen to the council.
Carl Rhein, district manager of
the NTMWD, stressed that this
meeting is only one of a series of
meetings which must be held and
is a workshop session for the 16
member council.
Rhein explained the meetings
because public reaction was so
great at the last NTMWD council
workshop meeting when several
hundred Lucas citizens appeared
to protest one of the plans for a
treatment plant to serve Allen,
McKinney, Richardson and
Plano.
One of the plans under con-
sideration would locate a plant in
the Lucas area.
“There are 3 types of
meetings,” he said. The workshop
session is the first step leading up
to the others which are designed
