examine the first copy of “The
Latchstring”, described in the mast
head as “a cultural magazine of
sparkling interest to Texas and the
Southwest”, which names as asso-
ciate editor, Mrs. Rosser Thomas
of Houston. Mrs. Thomas is the
sister of Mrs. E. G. Burroughs of
Ladonia and is herself a former La
donian.
An interesting article by Mrs.
Thomason the Houston Museum
of Fine Arts is printed in the first
issue of the magazine. In intro-
ducing its writers, the magazine has
this to say of Mrs. Thomas: "Mrs.
Rosser Thomas of Houston, form-
erly of Dal as, is a recognized Tex-

Opening the semi-annual Con-
vention of Fannin County Singers
in Ladonia Saturday night, May 2
a band concert and parade will be
staged on the town square, led by
the High School Band of Bonham.
Charlie Jones, president of the
Convention, is sponsoring the visit
of this group of about twenty-five
young musicians, and their direct-
or, Prof. Crelia of Bonham. Other
I ands and orchestras from over the
co nty have been invited to take
part in the concert, which is sche-
duled to begin about 7.30 p. m.
Mayor J. D. Fraley will give a wel-
come address to the visitors.
Ladonia citizens are urged to be
on hand to w elcome the visitors on
their arrival. ,
SENIORS GIVE RECEPTION
Immediately following the ban-
quet, the seniors entertained the
juniors with a reception. The
guests were registered as they en-
tered by Miss Dorothy Ann Beall.
In the receiving line were Ben Ed
Fry, senior class president; William
Scott, Tom Bartley, Isabel Mont-
gomery, Claudean White and Lila
Jane Williams. Games were en-
joyed by the guests.
A. L. Bartley w.s absent from
the bank Tuesday with a severe
attack of flu.
The annual meeting of the Baptist
Woman’s Missionary Society of Fan-
nin County will be held in Leonard
Thursday, May 7. An interesting
program has been arranged, and all
the ladies of the local church are
urged to attend.
