Please accept the enclosed
small check toward expenses
of “The Doings”. Thank you for
including me among those pres-
ent; I enjoy each issue to the
fullest.
We are going to be in full
bloom here in the Pineys. The
camellias were out of this world,
but are gone now.The azaleas
are next and the dogwood soon.
Am sorry to read of the severe
dryness up there. Hope you
will get some moisture soon.

The Methodist Bible Chair
at NTSU and TWU
After hearing Dr. Walker at
the dedication of the Parsonage
at Button Memorial Church
built by Mrs. Annie Hughey at
Little Elm, we asked him for
more facts concerning the Bible
Chair. He sent us a report which
is evidently addressed to Meth-
odists. However much of it is.
of general interest, and we
quote from it at length:
Dr. Hoyt Boles uses a humor-
ous story based around the mix-
ture and confusion of the words
“pleasure” and “surprise”. Al-

Services for Dr. F. L. McDon-
ald, president of Lamar State
College of Technology in Beau-
mont and former head of the
AMMhalism department at TWU,
19 held in Trinity Metho-
dist Church, Beaumont.
Dr. McDonald was an intim-
ate friend of the Headlees.
Deats served as his secretary
while he was Lt. Governor of
Kiwanis in 1940. He and Deats
had both served as president
of the Denton Kiwanis Club.
Dr McDonald is survived by
his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Olson
McDonald, and two daughters,
Mrs. Jack House of Beaumont
and Mrs. Bob Marks of Hunts-
ville.
Dr. McDonald was director of
the TWU Department of Jour-
nalism from 1935 until he be-
came president of Lamar State
in 1952.
He received his B. A. and
M. A degrees from the Uni-
versity of South Dakota, M.S.
from Northwestern University,
and Ph.D. from the University
a6nMissouri.
4ntering the armed services
TJune of 1941, Dr. McDonald
served nearly five years and
held the rank of colonel.
A member of Gen. Walter
Kreuger’s Sixth Army staff, he
spent 34 months in the South-
d Pacific Theater.
“s chief of the Troop Move-
ment Section he participated
in 21 of the 23 amphibious
landings from the Woodlark
Islands to Luzon. His awards
include the Legion of Merit,
Bronze Star, Silver Star, and
Purple Heart.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Kah-
lich, 3502 Sunnydale Lane, have
announced the marriage of
their daughter, Cynthia Jan, to
William Tip Hall III, son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Tip Hall
Jr. of Ponder.
A graduate of Denton High
School, Miss Kahlich is employ-
ed by Dr. Forrest W. Cothem
as a dental assistant. Her fi-
ance was graduated from Krum
High School and is a sopho-
more at NTSU in mathematics
education.
The two were married at
7:30 p.m. March 24 in the Anna
Street Church of Christ, The
bridegroom’s father officiated
at the ceremony.
The Halls are long-time
friends of ours.
