Miss Lyn Downs .sister of the
groom and Miss Paula Mackey,
the brides sister, of Midland
and Miss Diane Lovelace of
Farwell were the bridesmaids.
The best man was Mike Troy.
Paul Mackey and Pat Mackey,
brothers of the bride and Tom
Susan Bussard, North Texas
State University Junior English
maizr from Dallas, is the first
CTent of the $50.
"Me award will be made
each semester by the Woman’s
Shakespeare Club to a woman
junior or senior English major
at N.T.S.U.
Bessie Shook, for whom the
award is named, taught for
many years in the N.T.S.U.
English Department. She served
as president of the Shakespeare
Club and on District and State
Boards of the Federation of
Women’s Clubs. Application
for the scholarship may be
made through the office of the
vice president at N.T.S.U. The
same student is eligible to
apply for the award for four
consecutive semesters.
Selection is made according
temthe recommendation of a
larship committee. Mem-
hers of the current scholarship
committee, are Mrs. Ben Boyd,
Mrs. Vincent Hall and Mrs. H.
O. Harris.
Our great niece, Miss Pat-
ricia Ann Macky of Midland
became the bride of Audley
Weir Downs Jr. They were
married in the chapel of the
First Baptist church of Mid-
land. The Rev. L. L. Morris was
the officiant for the double
ring ceremony. The bride was
given in marriage by her
father.
The parents of the bride are
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Elvin
Mackey of 3208 Seaboard St.,
Midland. The bride is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Fanny
Mackey of Mexia, Texas. Miss
Mackey attended Texas Tech-
nological College, Lubbocck and
David Barnett, son of Dr.
and Mrs. Kelly Barnett was
presented the “Return The Fav-
or” scholarship for the second
straight year. The Denton
Chapter of the Ex-Students’
Association of the University
of Texas and Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Fowler are co-sponsors
of the 1968 scholarship of $250.
Barnett’s father is Dr. Das
Kelly Barnett a member of
the Department of Philosophy
at NTSU.
The recipient of the scholar-
ship must repay the loan so
that other students can bene-
fit from the funds.

Downs and David Downs,
brothers, of the groom were
groomsmen and ushers. Kevin
Johnson was ring bearer.
The reception was held in the
church with Mrs. William A.
Seal Jr., Mrs. C. Newton
Page and Mrs. Frank Bass Jr.
in the house party.
Following a trip to New
Orleans, La., the couple will
reside in Lawton, Okahoma.
