“Mr. Reynolds came to Throck

were born, when it represented
the lat outpost of civilization
and lay far out on the edge of
the wild frontier. But for such
men as he. who came here when
every step was attended by dan-

no Throckmorton county and no

made some-startling statements
when he declared with great em-
phasis that he believed in the
preservation of the freedom of
the press. He also declared he
was in favor of a trial by jury
and the right of the people to
peaceably assemble, was against
special privileges and favored
the equilization of the burden of
taxation. These are all worthy
things- and we do not suppose
there is a man, woman or child
in America who will not join the
senator in advocating them all.
It is something like the ku klux
declaring in favor of the purity
of American womanhood and the
separation of chrch and state
and claiming that everyone who
believe* in these fundamentals
should join the order and don a
mask.
