LONDON. — A new motion pic-
ture camera which wil enable sei-
entists to take moving pictures of
the body through the medium of X-
rays has been invented by Frederick
Melville, radiologist at University
college. London, and E E. Warn-
ford and E. W. dwards, British mo-
vie experts.
The camera in hailed as a great
British scientific success here, inas-
much as American and German sei-
entists have been trying to obtain
X-ray movies for year* past without
much suecess.
Pictures of the movements of the
wrist, th* hands, the fingers. and
the forearm have been Uken, and
it is hoped shortly to take photo-
graphs of the movements of the
heart.
“At first we tried to obtain X-
ray subjects with an ordinary mo-
tion picture camera.'' said one of
the inventors in an interview. "We
failed to get even an exposure, and
so we set to work to make a cam-
era. With an ordinary camera it is
nceesary to use lime exposures. We
had to Uke sixteen pictures a sec-
ond.
