OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Greetings and salutations!
My name is Katie Nigh and I am run-
ning for the office of President of the Stu-
dent Bar Association. I'd like to take
this opportunity to introduce myself to
those of you that I have not yet had the
privilege of meeting. Currently I am a
2nd semester 2L and a member of your
SB A. In the SB A, I hold the position of
Mid-Law Senator. My duties this year
have included planning and monitoring
those fabulous (and FREE) Atrium par-
ties, the Halloween Party, Chili Cook-
off/ Silent Auction and, coming soon to
a theater near you, the Spring Banquet. I
have had a great time this year and en-
oyed being a part of the happenings at STCL. I am looking forward to the
opportunity of representing this fine institution, not only to the students,
out to the faculty, administration, and alumni. As President, my primary
duties would be to express your comments and concerns to the administra-
tion and serve as an intermediary between the students and the Dean. I
have had some experience in this field, in that, during my undergraduate
years, I served one year as President and two years as Vice-President of
the student body at Oklahoma City University. I would love the opportu-
nity to continue serving the students of STCL as President of the Student
Bar Association. Be sure to cast your vote (no chad punching required)!
Katie Nigh
Hello everyone.
I hope your semester is going well, and
you have fun plans for spring break. Thank
you for taking the time to read this letter.
Also, thank you for taking the time to vote.
All of the candidates have put in a lot of
time campaigning, and we appreciate your
vote. My name is David Swick and I am
running for the office of President of the
V SBA. I have to tell you I am kind of ner-
Ul y JIMH vous about being the President if I win this
election, because it is a demanding job.
However, I am also excited about the chal-
lenge. Next year will be my third year at
South Texas, and I know it will be very de-
manding. I have thought long and hard about
taking on this responsibility. In the end, the
decision to run came down to a few reali-
ties. I know that I love South Texas College of Law, and I am extremely
proud to call it home. During this year, as Mid-Law Senator, I fell in love
with the Student Bar Association. Realizing those truths, I know there is
nothing I would love more than representing the SBA, at South Texas, as
its President. I hope I can be your ambassador, and I look forward to
working for you. Thanks again for voting, and be careful over spring
break.
David Swick
OFFICE OF THE
VICE PRESIDENT
My greatest asset to the upcoming
2001-2002 Board of Governors is expe-
rience. I served on the Board holding the
title of Freshman Senator, which gave me
the opportunity to become familiar with
the unseen decisions facing the Board. I
was given the opportunity to work along
side our faculty and staff, especially the
admissions office and a select number of
professors. I understand how challenging
it is for the students* voice to be heard
and know that with my patience and per-
sistence our voices' will be heard and ac-
tion will be taken.
I feel that I am qualified for the
position of Vice President having also
served in student government while an
undergrad at Texas A&M. I held posi-
tions on multiple committees and subcom-
nittees where I was able to initiate certain changes at A&M.
3raduate school is a unique experience and law school in many ways is
sven more unique. I want to be given the opportunity to make our gradu-
ite school experience a positive and beneficial one. As Vice President I
ivill look forward to holding a position that will allow me the opportunity
o continue to serve the student body and South Texas College of Law.

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY
To everyone who doesn't know me,
my name is Denise Guajardo, and I
would love to be your next SBA Secre-
tary. I am running for this position for
two reasons: I want to be actively in-
volved in school, and I know that I can
do the job well. Serving on the SBA is
my way of giving back to the school —
with all the time I spend here studying,
its my second home. In the past, partici-
pating in organizations that are designed
to represent the students has been a posi-
tive way for me to exercise my passion
for organizing and interacting with
people. I have always held positions in
student government, so I am familiar
with the commitment that is needed in
order to fulfill the responsibilities. I
chose the position of Secretary, because
I see the SBA Secretary as a liaison,
with responsibilities to facilitate communication between the students
and their school government. Additionally, I will help the SB A's efforts
to gain STCL the recognition it deserves. As Student Bar Association
Secretary I will proudly be a communicator, an organizer, a representa-
tive, an artist, and a worker. So, on March 7th & 8th, vote for me, Denise
G.
