Talking Heads
The Talking Heads are probably the most eclectic
American band, if not the best. It is hard to think
of another group that has had such diverse hits and
near hits as a cover of an Al Green song, "Psycho
Ki l ler" and "Burning Down the House". Same as it ever was.
That is the tendency in life, to remain the
"same", that David Byrne seems determined to disrupt.
Byrne has a project-city type personality. Stage
production "Catherine's Wheel", produces the B-52's
album, makes another LP with friend and avant-
comrads Brian Eno, everything he's done hasn't pleased
critics and audiences, but it has always pleased
enough, and finally it seems with the latest Speaking
in Tongues LP, people are waking up to their Talking
Heads.
Byrne is the Bryan Terry-type gone periodically
out of control in fits of humor. Remaining original
members Jerry Harrison, Chris Trantz and Tina
Weymouth will join Byrne on the Coliseum stage this
Friday night.
If you saw their last Houston show at Rocker's or
their first, at what was them the Texas Opry House,
you know not to let this chance slide by. Bil Hil
