with Burnet friends, returned to Aus-
tin yesterday. ,
Mr. Bart Moore of Waco, general
manager of the White Eagle Mining
company, is In the city.
Mrs. Dayton Moses Is visiting rela-
tives in the Capital City.
The railroad commission has issued
the following notice of hearing.
It is ordered that notice be and the
M me is hereby given to all persons in-
terested that the railroad commission
of Texas will. on Tuesday, January 21,
1902, at its office in Austin, take up and
consider:
First—Whether shipments of freight
to or from Eula, Texas, shall be sub-
ject to regular tariff rates, or shall be
subject to charges based on regular
rates plus a switching charge between
Terrell and Eula. •
Second—If the commission should de-
cide that regular tariff rates should ap-
ply to and from Eula, a basis for di-
viding joint rates to and from said
point will be considered.
All persons interested in the matter
above set forth are requested to pre-
sent to th** commission their views In
regard to the same on or before the
day of the hearing.

an amendment to the charter of the
Chicago, Rock luiand and Texas Rali-
way company. The amendment pro-
vides for the construction and opera-
tion of a- branch line beginning at
Jacksboro. in Jack county, at the
terminus of the company’s branch line
already built from Bridgeport to
Jacksboro.
