her daughter’s wedding a light
blue street-length dress. Her
accessories were in white. The
bridegroom’s mother chose a
beige and brown street-length
knit dress with beige accessories.
Both mothers wore cymbidium
orchids.
A reception followed at the
home of the bride’s parents in
Elsa. The bridal couple, their
parents and attendants received
the guests. Registering the
guests at the bride’s book were

Michael Fike. The small round
table was skirted in blue and
yellow decorated with white felt
cupids.

father, the bride wore a gown of
white batiste with bridal eyelet
over batiste fashioning the
bodice and long full sleeves. A
wide ruffle of eyelet threaded

Edcouch, Miss Cindy Lou
Sorensen became the bride of
Steven Dale McCarn, Saturday
evening, July 21 at half past
seven o’clock. The Rev. Leo
Ross of San Juan, formerly of
Edcouch, officiated at the
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. L. O. Sorensen of
Elsa and the bridegroom’s
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred
McCarn of Pawnee, Texas.
Because of schedule limita-
tions, only two meetings can be
held in Mercedes, on Wednesday
August 15 at 7:30 p.m. and final
meeting Thursday August 16 at
7:30 p.m. Both meetings at
Mercedes Rodeway Inn, Rt. 83.

After the eight week program
a person can read any average
length book in less than an hour
and understand it better. In
addition to speed reading the
course also emphasizes improved
study techniques, better test
taking skill, and increased
concentration and retension abili-
ties.
The course requires a person
to attend one class per week on
the evening of their choice. For
those who would like more
information, without obligation to
vows were repeated before an
altar decorated with a large
central arrangement of white and
