A crowd had gathered
at 1403 N. Market Loop
near Thompson Road, just
outside the Baytown city
limits, to celebrate the life
of Jamal Narcisse, 29, who
was killed Dec. 3 in the
200 block of West Francis

A woman who attended
the event and wished to
remain anonymous, said
the event, which had been
called a “block party” was
nearing an end with the re-
lease of balloons — red in-
terspersed with black.
Then a car drove by and
its occupants fired multiple
gunshots into the crowd,
creating a scene of shock
and chaos.
A suspect description has
not been provided. Authori-
ties believe those who fired
the shots were traveling in a
small, dark-colored sedan.
There had been no arrests

Baytonians.
Sadly, on Dec. 31, the
popular eatery will close.
Cyndi McFalls, who has
owned the restaurant since
2003, said she wanted to
clarify why the store was
closing.
“The building is being
sold,” McFalls said. “The
landlord of 42 years is sell-
ing the building. Several
potential landlords wanted
to keep us in here, but the
person that ended up buy-
ing it has other plans for the
building. So, they are not
going to renew our lease.”
McFalls said she had
been asked why not just
move the restaurant to an-
other spot.
“I explained that we lost
so much from last year and
this year from COVID, that
I do not have the money to
move,” she said. “If I had
not lost so much money, I
might have had the money
to buy the building.”
