2022 election calendar
With mid-term elections in 2022,
there are a lot of dates and deadlines.
For the typical voter, though, who
isn’t involved in holding elections or
running for office, there are two big
ones: Primary Election March 1 and
General Election Nov. 8.
The primary election will be fol-
lowed by a runoff election May 24 if
needed. It is usually needed for some
but not all offices.

After installing a new
signal-timing system on
Garth Road, city officials
say the evaluation process
is working out well.
“The evaluation is ongo-
ing but is so far success-
ful,” Jason Calder, city
spokesman, said.
The new system will
replace the Synchrogreen
adaptive synchronization
system, which went live
in 2016. The Texas De-
partment of Transportation
assisted with the system’s
installation.
The system’s software
continually adjusts signal
times to help traffic flow
smoother instead of having
traffic congestion, which
has caused many Baytown
drivers issues just trying
to drive up and down the
road.
It changes the amount
of green time for each in-
tersection approach based
on the variations in traffic
volumes.
Calder added there are a
few things yet to do before
the new system goes into
full effect.
One is to evaluate the
intersection at Garth Road
and Bay town Central Bou-
levard.
