; WEDNESDAY'S SPECIAL
Dec. 29 marked the 101st
birthday milestone for Mrs.
Addie Williams of Gilmer.
Mrs Williams is in very good
health for her 101 years despite
a recent bout of pneumonia,
which she won.
She was honored with a birth-
day party complete with cake by
her only surviving son, Byron
Williams of Carthage, and his
wife Don.
Mrs. Williams loves to get
out of the house often. Some-
times her grandson, Phillip Wil-
liams of Gilmer, takes her for a
ride in the country. On her birth-
day her granddaughter, Janet
Mayhew of Kansas City, took
her for the ride. They drove by
farms in the county, and Mrs.
Williams recalled the names of
people who used to live there
years ago.
She was impressed with the
new Gilmer Lake dam project,
and remarked, "How in the
world do they stack dirt that
high?"
Cherokee Trace was the road
she traveled to come into town
years ago.
Mrs. Williams* memory would
amaze a 20-year-old, and 101
years of things to remember is
MRS. ADDIE WILLIAMS
quite a feat Though her recent are most valued — she sub-
bout with pneumonia left her scribes to The Gilmer Mirror
weak, she still has a sparkle in and writes letters to family and
her beautiful blue eyes, which friends weekly.
