Monday as I write this day is known as CONSTITUTION DAY, SEPTEM-
BER 17, 1787. This day commemorates the formation of the signing of the
U.S. CONSTITUTION, by 39 brave men. WE THE PEOPLE. This day needs
to be a National holiday so it could be remembered.
The ones on the prayer list: Penny Rice former resident of Grandview has
been having some serious problems. She and her husband now live in
Tennessee to be closer to their family; Bart Basham is home and improving;
Juanita Bishop; Wilma Johnson; Sis Siratt; Winnie Booher; Melva Swain;
Shellie Lee; Herb and Oleta Lubke; Jake Smalley; Buck Emory; Ray Van
Zandt; Sam Bailey; Ed Kafer; James Roden; Bruce Lintner; George and Mary
Hinson; Carl Peppers; Ewing DevAney; Justin Tuley; list is shorter this week
and that is good news.
Grandview and parts of Johnson County will be very busy this weekend,
starting on Friday, the Antique Alley gears up once again. It now spreads all
the way to Cleburne and then back to the east to Maypearl. In the past it has
contributed to good trade in the area and the merchants are hoping once again
will be the same, money in their pockets. Many have been setting up already
and preparing for this sale. One that I am interested in is the Make A Donation
for the adoption of a baby boy or girl for my niece and her husband Curtis
and Katie Lowery. They hope to gain enough money to adopt this child which
will be loved and well cared for as they have done this for their baby girl
Charlee. So if you would be so kind, go by their location and help them with
their journey. Katie is a former Grandview resident and went to school here.
She is the daughter of Bill and Pat Gatlin.
Going back down memory lane of Grandview in 1954 .. In 1954 I was 14
years of age. So this is a nice trip for me to go back and read the news that
attracted the citizens of the town of Grandview. In the September issue of the
17, 1954, an article of importance was the House Numbers and Street
Markers. At this time the city did not have this important agenda for the town.
A committee of volunteer workers started going from door to door making a
survey of the town, preparatory to assigning numbers to homes and places of
business at which time the cost was explained to the property owners. The
proposed street markers were of the highest quality with 4 inch embossed let-
ters on easy to read baked enamel plates, with street names on both side. 3
inch house numbers are made of durable and attractive cast aluminum. The
Tribune reports that they hope city council should declare a policy for the city
of Grandview that all homes and places of business should bear uniform
numbers and provide an ordinance to that effect be passed to enforce the com-

Billy Dean Terrell, 83, of LaCanne, Jason Hannon, Jacob
By Keith J. Peck
This week, on 9/11 exactly, we remembered another day in infamy.
Before the day came to a close, we had another reason to remember
the day. Two countries who were supposed to be our friends, Egypt
and Libya decided to show their lack of appreciation by attacking our
consulates and killing four Americans. Our president was a little slow
in denouncing such lack of appreciation. The Republican presidential
candidate was much quicker to denounce the action as well as the
announced reason for it. His remarks were on the air hours before the
apologies of Obama which were inappropriate according to many
Democrats as well as Republicans.
As I listened to the newscasts, I had to process the news reports and
I decided that the issue that I remembered which was similar was Pearl
Harbor. Our president was Franklin Roosevelt and he asked Congress
for a declaration of war immediately before the fires went out in Pearl
Harbor.
International respect must be gained sometimes by action that seems
a little hasty. I don't believe that the muslims were entitled to an apol-
ogy and we should already be on the idiots tails who actually commit-
ted an act of war against us. Is there a possibility that they believe that
they won the war in Iraq? If they do, it is time that they learn their les-
son.
We can start by telling the leaders in Libya and Egypt that as of yes-
terday, all promises of loans are canceled until they learn that we are
not paying anymore. We have been suckers long enough, we are not
paying for anymore democracys. If they want a change in government,
they can get theirs just like we got ours.
Another little item that I find unacceptable is a president who thinks
that his most important duty is to collect additional funds to assure his
reelection. He is being paid to protect us. He hasn't been doing a very
good job lately. Is it asking too much for a president that puts first
things first?

THOUGHT FOR THISWEEK:
I compare the troubles which we have to undergo in a year to a great bundle
of sticks, far too large for us to lift. But God does not require us to cany the
whole at once. He mercifully unties the bundle, and gives us first one stick,
which we carry today, and then another which we are to carry tomorrow and
so on. This might be easily manage, but we choose to increase our troubles
by carrying yesterday’s stick all over again today, and adding tomorrow s
burden to our load, before we are required to bear it. (J. N.).I hope you have
a great week, thanks for reading.
