Just My Luck.
If the boy who exclaims “Just my

“Just my laziness” or “Just my in-

Luck is waiting for something to

Luck lies in bed and wishes the
postman would bring him news of a

Labor turns out at 6 o’clock and

The present department of justice

A Question About Firecrackers.
Mr. Magruder had forbidden his
boys to buy anything on credit, and
one day he called the children and
said he wanted to know who had
had 5 cents’ worth of firecrackers
charged to him at the toy store.
The older ones promptly said, “I
did not,” but the two little ones,
John and Harry, seemed not so clear
in their statements. John said he
had bought 5 cents’ worth of fire-
crackers with 5 cents Uncle Frank
gave him, and one time his mamma
gave him 5 cents and he got some
firecrackers at the toy store.
“Oh, I don’t care about that,” his
father said. “Did you have 5 cents’
worth of firecrackers charged ?
Little Harry could not stand it
any longer. He must make John
understand, so he went right up to
him and said, “J ohnny, did you ever
get 5 cents’ worth of crackers with
a 5 cents nobody never gave you ?"

A Purgative Pleasure.
If you ever took DeWitt’s Little Ear-
ly Risers for biliousness or constipa-
tion you know what a purgative pleas-
ure is. These famous little pill ■
cleanse the liver and rid the system of
all bile without producing unpleasant
effects. They do not gripe, sicken or
weaken, but give tone and strength to
the tissues and organs involved. W. H.
Howell of Houston, Tex., says: “No

period of eighteen years of preach-
ing and writing and lecturing, that
rhe shock isn’t very apparent.
Besides, it has been up hill all the
way.
I have seen it stated that I
“wearied of the strenuous life of
the lecture field and sought ease
in the pastorate.” Well, I have
tried both.
If I wanted an easy, lazy time I
would continue to roam around
the country with half a dozen
lectures, each one so old that it
will say itself after you get it
started, and change my audience
every day.

Surgery and Morality.
■ Much interest has lately been
aroused in London by two surgical
operations which have resulted in a
•.marked change of character in the
patients. One was that of a boy of
good family who had developed
strangely brutal instincts. A clever
surgeon examined him with care, lo-
cated what he considered the seat of
the trouble, removed a piece of the
‘skull and thus relieved the deform-
ing pressure. The lad was restored
to his parents a normal and lovable
child. The other case was that of a
soldier who after an injury in a
skirmish developed a propensity for
theft. An operation on the brain
cured him.
