Labor leaders from the area got together fora
session that holds some promise of greater coopera-
tion, increased mutual congeniality and effective-
ness in spite of differing interests and opinions in

Folks have spoken for and against the proposed
abolishment of the poll tax and whichever route
they took, they were sure they had the right
road map.
Port Arthur and Orange's cold war has pro-
greened to the stage where some citizens are won-
dering if there's any way to invent a geographical
m ile-stretcher to correspond with the vast gulf of
X differences that seems to separate them. If there
were a way to move the Grand Canyon down here
and put it between us, there might be plenty of
folks who’d vote for that.
The managing editor has found several juicy and
derogatory items on the Associated Press wires re-
lating to San Antonio, and since that was my stomp-
ing grounds for a number of years, he finds it
necessary to see that all such releases are placed
on my desk in a conspicuous place.
This particular one of my superiors (and there's
a lot of ’em) seems to think that folks to San
Antonio have a gay old time ALL the time.
