Politicians and Virtue.
Many of the founding fathers were men of virtue and
had morals. George Washington set about curbing his
emotions and being selfless at an early age. While still a
teenager he wrote over a hundred “Rules of Civility.”
Throughout his life he pushed for self-control until by
strength of will he made himself into a compassionate,
dignified, and gracious man. As a result, he was loved by
everyone and offered Kingship which he turned down.
Today, men with political ambition also need the
ambition to be virtuous. We do not need men who seek
office but great men whom the office seeks them because
of who they are. We do not need candidates who run for
office rather then men who by virtue and wisdom are
compelled to lead by the majority of people.
On this July 4th holiday, pray for God to raise up great
an virtuous men to lead our country.

This has aggravated iron
chlorosis problems parti-
cularly in alkaline clays.
Copper and zinc deficien-
cies may alos be induced.
Phosphorus is very stable
in the soil and applications
twice a year are typically
sufficient to supply plant
needs.
Continued applications of
a balanced fertilizer can
cause phosphorus accumu-
lations. Lawn fertilizers
with a higher nitrogen and
a lower phosphorus analy-
sis may be appropriate for
your yard. Only a soil test
will determine your current
soil phosphorus level.
Often times, a straight
nitrogen fertilizer, such as
ammonium nitrate or sul-
fate, is all your turfgrass
should be getting. Potas-
sium will provide a little
hardening and drought re-
sistance now and phos-
phorus helps build deep
roots, so make sure these
levels are sufficient before
you toss your balanced
fertilizer. Micronutrients
can also be analyzed in a
soil test if deficiencies are
suspected.

found in nitrogen ferti-
lizers, human and animal
wastes and other organic
residues. Excessive ni-
trates in drinking water
have been shown to cause
health problems in infants
less than one year old. This
sometimes occurs in rural
areas where water is drawn
from a shallow well. In this
case, parents are advised to
feed infants bottled water
during their first year of
life.
Although this report
calms fears about pollution
of groundwater by our food
production system, we
should all realize it is only
through the continued co-
operation among univer-
sities, chemical manufac-
turers, farmers and regula-
tory agencies, such as the
Environmental Protection
Agency and the Texas De-
partment of Agriculture,
that this condition exists.
Careful product testing and
labeling procedures screen
potential problems before
wholesale applications over
millions of acres result in
serious and unexpected
consequences. The pesti-

The Colony Public
Library has added two
copies of the “E-911 (En-
hansed 911” video to the
video collection and the
videos are available to the
patrons for circulation.
E-911 is an emergency
response number that
automatically flashes infor-
mation on a computer
screen. This video is a seg-
ment taken from the tele-
vision program, 20/20.
If a person needs emer-
gency help, he can dial this
number and his address is
automatically flashed on a
screen. This is important to
the police or fire depart-
ment if the person is unable
to speak or does not know
the address. Further ad-
vantages of the system is
that response time is faster.
The system is relatively
inexpensive and cuts down
on crank calls, according to
Van Morrison, the Colony
fire chief. The system is
explained in further detail
in the video.
Prices good at participating Bumper To Bumper Auto Parts Stores through July 6, 1987. ‘Items in
