they’ll lose a sense of the St.

grounds.

“I believe the most important part of art is for it to be creative
and expressive. The viewer should be able to sense a certain
feeling or emotion from a piece,” said Deidre Hubbard.
Each artist receives their emotion or inspiration from differ-
ent sources and incorporates them into their work. For example,
Hilbert confesses, “my favorite subjects are nature and architec-
ture, inspired by my road trips...music is another inspiration, from
Jimmy Buffet, to Pink Floyd, to ZZ Top, every picture has part of
a song.”
Clearly, all of the participants are extremely talented and have
benefited from the Art department here at St. Edward’s and the
guidance of art professors, like Stan Irvin and Walle Conoly. The
artists are excited for the opportunity to display their work to the
community and share their form of expression.
The Moody Hall Gallery is open daily from 8:00 a.m.-8:00
p.m. The St. Edward’s community is encouraged to enjoy and
appreciate the fine artistic talent of its graduating Art majors.

swered questions and showed their work.
On display, there are a wide variety of art forms, ranging from
oil paintings, acrylics and watercolor, to pen and ink drawings, and
sculptures. Senior Teri Ashley states “watercolor is the medium
I feel most comfortable with. It lets me go from light to bright;
realistic to imaginative.” However, some of the other participants
chose to use other media of art as their forms of expression. For
example, Irma Sanchez uses the method of acrylics on canvas in
her boldly colored display entitled “Echos of Times Forgotten”.
The participants of the Senior Art Exhibit are very exuberant
about displaying their work to the public. Reyburn Hilbert
explains, “I am really excited about this. It’s a time when we can
finally show off the pieces we have worked so hard on.” Not only
will the viewers of the art exhibit see the physical finished products
of the Art majors, but also the emotion and expression which has
been put into the pieces.
From February 24 through March 25, the Senior Art Exhibit
is on display in Moody Hall. Each year graduating Art majors are
required to compile various art works they have created over the
course of their years in college and exhibit them prior to gradua-
tion. This semester, there are seven talented graduating art
