by Rabbi Eugene Lipman, who re-
signed to serve as Chaplain in the
U.S. Army, and then by Dr. Ernest
Grey. Rabbi Soskin returned to his
pulpit in December 1945, just in
time to participate in the 25th anni-
versary of the building of the Tem-
ple. The date of this anniversary
was December 2nd, 1945.
On the morning of August 29th,
1946 the Temple was destroyed by
fire. Despite the scarcity and high
prices of building materials, the
congregation voted to rebuild imme-

work was started on a new Temple.
It was opened in September 1920,
but never completed according to
plan, due to the fact that enough
funds could not be raised. The main
auditorium, and the assembly room
downstairs were the only completed!
