Record
Student
Enrollment
bast fall we began a
I new major in psy-
chology, offering
only lower division
courses. We have
now hired Dr. Tony
Norman, an outstand-
ing Christian psychol-
ogist, to head up the
program and offer the
full four-year curricu-
j lum beginning this
fall. We anticipate
strong interest in this
major and expect it to
help attract and retain
new students.

program, which
began just a year
ago, has met solid
success, with over
125 graduate students
already enrolled in
the program.ast spring semes-
ter we reached an
all-time high of
1627 students. Yet that
record was shattered
again this fall.
Enrollment now
I stands at 1745, includ-
ing our campus-based
students, those in our
adult programs and
those in our graduate
program. We rejoice
at the tremendous
growth in the number-
of those who are
drawn to
L e1Tourneau's Christ-
centered, quality pro-
grams. Our growth
has not come at a loss
in quality. The SAT
scores of our entering
freshmen have risen
i to 150 points above
the national average.
And the spiritual com-
mitment of our new
students is very strong.
With record enroll-
Imeant growtha comes a
wonder ul problem: a
need for more facili-
ties. We have opened
up the last wing of the
Women's Residence
Hall (our incoming
freshman class has the
largest number of
female students we
have ever had in a
new class). Male resi-
dent halls are at 102
percent of capacity
and several men are
temporarily living in a
campus-owned house
just off the campus.
Record enrollment
in our LEA1P program
in the Dallas area
caused us to outgrow
our Dallas Educational
Center. This summer
we doubled our capac-
ity there, providing an
attractive and highly
functional facility for
the future develop-
ment of that program.lp
