Official Publication of the St.
Edward’s University Alumni As-
sociation.
Edwin A. Young, '31, of Houston, was chosen
President of the St. Edward's University Alumni As-
sociation to succeed Ralph A. Grimes, - '38, of Aus-
tin, who retired after serving two years as President
of the Association.
Maurice Kennedy, '35, of Midland, Texas, was
elected Vice President, succeeding Jacques P. Dar-
rouzet, '43, of Austin.
The election of officers of the Association took
place at the Annual Business Meeting which was held
in Room 113, Library and Administration Building,
11:00 A.M., Sunday, April 28th.
Several important decisions were made during
the course of the meeting.
The name of the Ex-Student Association, St. Ed-
ward's University, was changed to St. Edward's Uni-
versity Alumni Association. The Alumni Association
will continue as before to include graduates and non-
graduates among its members. And provision has
been made for the inclusion of honorary alumni in the
Association.
Hereafter, the Ex-Student Newsletter will be
known as the St. Edward's University Newsletter.
The officers of the Association were empowered
to charge a registration fee to defray the expenses of
the Reunion.
A vote of thanks was given to Mr. Ralph Grimes,
the retiring President, and Mr. Jacques P. Darrouzet,
the retiring Vice President.
The time of the Annual Reunion was changed from
the last week-end in April to the first week-end in
May.

Annual Reunion
Beginning with registration at 1:00 P.M., Sat-
urday, April 26th, the campus welcomed back the ex-
students for their Annual Reunion on the Hilltop.
Over 60 ex-students were in attendance at the
Reunion. A large number brought their wives and
children, many brought guests, so that the over-all
attendance at the Reunion came to something over 135
persons. This number represents a muchbetter show-
ing than the attendance at the Reunion in recent years.
The informal get-together took place in the Stu-
dent Lounge, Holy Cross Hall (as did the majority of
the Alumni activities) between 1:00 and 5:30 P. M. A
buffet supper was followed by an informal dance in
the Lounge, and was enjoyed by all. Dennis Lynch's
orchestra provided the music.
Sunday morning at 9:00 A.M. the Alumni at-
tended the Alumni Memorial Mass offered in Our Lady
of Victory Chapel. After a Communion Breakfast in
the Lounge, the alumni adjourned to Room 112, Li-
brary and Administration Building, where the Annual
Business Meeting was held. The meeting opened at
11:00 A.M.
At this meeting, Mr. Edwin A. Young, '31, of
Houston, was elected President, and Mr. Maurice
Kennedy, '35, of Midland, Texas, was elected Vice
President.
Mr. Fred J. Wittenburg, '01, of Rocksprings,
Texas, and his son, James Wittenburg, of the Class
of 1938, also from Rocksprings, were present. The
alumni were pleased to see this father and son com-
bination at the Reunion.
A banquet at 12:30 P. M. closed the 1958 Annual
Reunion. After taking everything into consideration,
the retiring general officers of the Association, Mr.
Ralph Grimes and Mr. Jacques P. Darrouzet, have
every reason to be pleased with the successful termi-
nation of their administration of the affairs of the Ex-
Student Association. The 1958 Annual Reunion is one
sign of the success of their endeavors.
