That busy little blonde you see
running up and down the halls of
W. C. is none other han Wilda Ruth
Garland, the editor of the Oak Leaf,
better known as Woosie.
From Nome they crossed the Ber-
ing Strait to the Siberian peninsula
of Kamchatka. From here they
journeyed to Japan where they stop-
ped at Nemure, Tokyo, Osaka and
Fukuaka. Their stop at Nanking
proved to be the most eventful and
interesting. Anne describes the
great and treacherous Yangtze Ri-
ver on the rampage. She says of
that river: “The river gone mad with
power, carrying all in front of it out
to sea.” Anne also gives a first hand
account of the flood damage done
to Nanking and the area around it.
The river was so rought that their
plane was badly damaged while
landing to pick up survivors. They
weer forced to give up the rest of
their trip by air, but they traveled
on by train to Japan. From there
they left for home by steamer. Their
trip was unfinished but they were
glad they were able to offer some
help to the Chinese.
The Lindberghs left Washingto to
go to New York, and from there to
North Haven, Maine, where their
first stop was made. They made
stops at Ottawa, Moose Factory,
Churchill, Baker Lake, and Akla-
vik, in Canada. They stopped at
Point Barrow and Nome in Alaska.
