The art department is very pleasea with
the rapidly growing interest in art and art
courses on the Weatherford College
campus.
Five art courses are being offered this
spring semester.
Foundations of art is a course designed
to prepare elementary education majors
for teaching enjoyable art to small
children.
Introductory painting is working with
acrylics, water color and ink. Plans are
being made for local artist to give
demonstrations of their art works.
Life drawing I and II are courses in
portrait drawings. The drawings are done
with charcoal, conte, pastels, dry brush,
oil and ink.
Intermediate design is the study of
composition in three dimensional art. Sand
castings, jewelry cast, clay and sculpture
molding, basic carving, and wire sculpting
are some of the various crafts enjoyed in
this class.

many promised aspects of life, met many interesting people, and made many
lasting friendships.

There are approximately 50 students
now participating on the WC Work-Study
Program. Approximately 25 students
receive aid from the Educational Op-
portunities Grant.
Besides the Work-Study Program, the
Educational Opportunities Grant, ’ and
Scholarships, there are several other types
of aid available.
The House Bill 43 is aid granted by the
state of Texas for students in the form of a
grant or a scholarship.
Educational loans are short-term
college loans used for aid in tuition and
fees payment.
The Texas Opportunity Plan Loans are
long-term educational loans granted by
the State of Texas.
Weatherford College has available many
kinds of state and federal financial aid for
students and prospective students who
have a financial need.
The Work-Study Program has been
granted $33,000 for the fiscal year 72-73 and
another $15,000 for the Educational Op-
portunity Grant.
Student financial aid is usually a
“packaged award.” Money is awarded in
the form of scholarships, loans, and
through the work-study program.
To be eligible for financial aid, a need

Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society of
students who have met certain scholastic
requirements.
It is organized on a National scale and is
broken down into four regional districts;
North Central, Southern, Northwest and
Western, and New England and Middle
States.
These regions are further broken down
into chapters. The chapter here at
Weatherford College was formed after
application for a charter from the
Executive Director at the National
Headquarters of Phi Theta Kappa was
made. A charter fee was also paid.
Membership is by invitation only. A
student must have a 3.0 average or better
with no grade below C to be invited.
The club meets every second and fourth
