9- What is Latex-treated Web Cord?
A—Web Cord is the special cord structure developed
by this Company for Royal Cords and other United
States Tires.
d—How does Latex-treated Web Cord differ from the cord
structure used in other makes of tires?
A—Each individual cord from which Web Cord is made
is latex-treated by immersing the cords in a latex -
bath. The cords are then laid side by side and when
the liquid dries they become webbed together by
pure, natural rubber.
Q- Don't other manufacturere treat their cords?
A—Some do, but not in latex.
q- What is the object of treating cords with latex?
A—All tire cords must be impregnated with rubber.
Using latex impregnates the
cords with rubber, without
using chemicals.

You will at once notice the rich,
fragrant aroma of Camel tobaccos
not found in the other.
This marked difference is even
more apparent when you "taste the
smoke.” It is solely because of
the quality of the tobaccos and the
skill of the blending that Camels
never tire the taste, never leave a
cigaretty after-taste.
Camels are so good that we know
you will like them. Give them every

Latex, the milky-white liquid that flows from the bark of a rubber
tree, is the source of all rubber. The United States Rubber Com.
pany ships latex from its rubber plantations in t he ar East to it.
lire factories Special machinery treats tire cords in a latex bath
and lays them side by side, producing Web Cord. See below
Q- Why don’t other manufac-
turers use the Latex Process?
A—The Latex Process was de-
yeloped,’ patented and is
owned by the United States
Rubber ( ompany.
Q—What are the advantafee of
Latex-treated Web Cord?
A—Greater flexibility, strength
and longer life in cord fabric.
The Latex Process surrounds
and protects each cord with
rubber and webs it to its
neighboring cords with a
flexible rubber coating. This
does away with the necessity
for eross tie-threads.

The new Texaco Gasoline just an-
nounced by officials of the Texas Co ,
is not a “discovery,” says R. C
Holmes, president, but rather a result
of a gradual and important develop-
ment in refinery processes and prac-
tices which enables the company to
produce a product more nearly meet-
ing the ideal requirements of a mo-
tor gasoline without too great a sac
rifice in yield of production. Mr.
Holmes stated that the Holmes-Man-
ley process, while revolutionizing cer-
tain phases of gasoline production is
merely the result of direct long am1
painstaking efforts tn produce eco-
nomically an improved grade of gaso-
line of better volatility. Such a gas-
oline must necessarily have, and does
have, a pronounced improvement in
distillation range. The initial boiling
point is between 90 and 100 degrees
Fahrenheit and the end point over 400,

Down in the rich Everglades coun-
try the traveler finds one of the cu-
riosities of American journalism.
If the automobile is speeding‘at 40
there is danger of completely over-
looking the town of/the Canal Point,
for its total population cannot be in
excess of 200. However, one of the
host weekly newspapers in the state
or the South is produced here. It finds
support, course, among the well-to-
do tillers of the black muck of the
Everglades and the men* who have
come to open this' amazingly fertile
land for farming hy a system of
drainage canals. The weekly news-
paper ds “Everglades News” and its
editor is Howard Sharp, a clever writ-
er and enterprising publisher. His
paper is profitable. The most recent
enterprise of the Canal Point Ever-
glades News was to take a census f
the hath-tubs in the community. Mr,
Sharp announced editorially that
wash tubs or tin tubs "would not be I
counted as bath-tubs. He asked his
readers to “come clean” in reporting
iinstallation of bonafide tubs for
bathing purposes only. -
Canal Point is on the famous “Fin
gy” Connors highway on the south-
east side of Lake Okeechobee.—Ex-

about Camel’s tobacco quality,
make this test:
Take a Camel and any other
cigarette. Tear off the papers and
place the tobaccos from the two
cigarettes in separate piles. Now
shake them up and examine the to-
baccos. Your own eyes will quickly
show you the difference, how the
Camel tobacco is longer and of a
riper color. Then gather up the two
