by corn.” “It is expected,” states
Stone, “That the yield this year
will be at least 35 bushels of corn
as to campare with 10 bushels in
1945.”
Practically the same thing is
being done on cotton or other
crops following winter legumes.
Those farmers who have not
made plans for using superphos-
phate and legumes should, by all
means, do so now as it will soon
be time to start preparing the land
and getting ready to seed your
winter legumes.
“Remember, when you add
superphosphate and plant legumes
you are adding to the soil two of
the most important elements es-
sential for plant growth, nitrogen
and phosphorus,” states Stone.
Tree Poisoning
The remainder of this month
is about as long as you have to
successfully kill some of your un-
desirable trees in your pecan
groves, etc.
Since the growing season for
the trees is over now they may be
killed by the following procedure.
Cut through the bark of the tree
allowing eah cut to overlap the
last. Then mix this poison form-
ula. Slowly mix one pound of lye
into the water and follow with
two pounds of white arsenic.
When all ingredients have dis-
solved remove the mixture from
the fire. Pour into the cut bark
of the tree one tablespoonful of
the poison mixture for each six
inches of cut made.
“Then be sure to remove your
cattle from the area being poison-
ed, for if you don’t you will have
dead cattle as well as dead trees,”
warned Stone.

Gospel preaching 11 a. m. and
7:30 p. m.
When a person gets into Christ,
he is a new creature, old things
have passed away; behold, all
things are become new. (2 Cor. 5:
17.) His past sins are forgiven and
righteous life. He is to walk in the
Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the
flesh. Paul names several things
in which the lusts of the flesh are
made known, and gives the fruit
of the Spirit in Gal. 5:16-26. Peter
tells Christians the graces they
are to add to this faith if they
are to be fruitful in the know-
ledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Pet. 1:5-8.
Brethren, are we adding these
graces to our lives and bearing
fruit in the Spirit, as Christians
should?
