The writer in company with
Mrs. Amon Lawhon and baby,
Sunday afternoon called on our
new neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Dildy and little granddaughter,
Doris Ann Safarik. We welcome
these fine folks to our communi-
ty, and do hope they will enjoy
living here. After spending some-
time in their home we then called
to see Mrs. Bessie Linder who
has been sick for sometime. So
glad to find her able to be up and
about again and do hope for her
to be well again soon.

The peach season is here, and
in our county the crop is very
short, if not a total failure. We
should begin to do something a-
bout it. Is it indifference, not
the right soil ,or care when trees
are set? We might get the Coun-
ty Agent to help start a fruit tree
planting campaign, but first thing
to be done is selecting the orchard
site, then proper preparation of
soil before setting trees. Its just
too bad to have buy fruit outside
our county most every year.

COON NECK NEWS
By Mrs. H. A. Campbell
COON NECK, July 21 — How
we do thank and praise the Lord
for the wonderful rain we receiv-
ed last week, which was needed so
badly. The Lord is so good to us
and knows all about our needs. It
is certainly warm to night and
I believe it is going to rain again
soon.
The farmers are very busy set-
ting out potatoes.
I believe the women folks have
just about canned all they have
got to can. The tomato crop has
been a failure in and around here,
I believe.
I am glad indeed to report we
had some wonderful services this
week-end at our church. Our visi-
tors Sunday night were Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Sandifer, Jr., Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin Paris and son Norton,
and Rev. T. E. Hollis, wife and
daughter, of Elgin, Mr. Edgar
Bragg and mother of Young’s
Prairie community. We certain-
ly do appreciate you folks coming
and do hope you will come often
and enjoy the meetings.
Glad to report Mrs. Milam and
baby are doing fine and were able
to return home Saturday after-
noon, after ten days visit with
her parents, the Campbells.
Those calling the past week to
visit Miss Judy Lynn and mother
were Mrs. Obra Lawhon and chil-
dren, Mrs. Amon Lawhon and
children, Mr. and Mrs. Chester
Guynes and children, Miss Doris
Hobbs, Mrs. Daisy Snowden of
Elgin and Mrs. Lessie Brunson
and son, Mrs. Biliie Dooley of
Austin, Miss Thelma Brunson of
Alice, Texas.
Awful sorry to meet with dis-
appointment, as I don’t guess no
one could find a meter base, not
even one for our church house.
Just as soon as we get those lights
turned on, we plan to have an
open air revival. So we are very
anxious. But after over two years
of waiting, I guess we can have

as so many of us forget to do.
Glad to hear she can be' up some,
tho still has to be careful.

her eighty fourth birthday on

visit. Mr. and Mrs. Zander re-
tired from their farm at Paige and
