McDADE, Texas, Sept. 13-—
Mr Roger McCown, of Austin,
spent Sunday in the home of Mr.
sand Mrs. W. T. Stagner.
Mrs. Jessie Allen spent the
week-end with her .daughter and
family, Mrs. Grover Scott, of El-
gin.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Stagner,
of Georgetown, visited Sunday af-
ternoon with Misses Pauline and
Mary Stagner.
Mrs. E. D. Polk and baby of
Little Rock, Ark. are spending
some time with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Sanders.
Nelda Ruth and Anne Turnip-
seed, of Houston, visited last week
with their grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jess Sanders.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Grossman and
family, of Paige, visited Sunday
with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
G. T. Dungan.
Mr. and Mrs. K. H. Meyers and
children, of Houston, spent Labor
Day with their parents, J. H. Mey-
ers, and Mr. and Mrs. Meyers re-
turned home with them to visit a
few days in Houston.
Mrs. Alton Field and Suzanne
spent Saturday with her mother,
Mrs. J. V. Dunbar, of Elgin.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Stagner
spent Saturday afternoon in Bas-
trop.
Mrs. Jack Snider and Jo Ann
of Vancouver, Washington, after
an extended visit in McDade, re-
turned to their home last Monday
night.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Field were
in Bastrop and Elgin Friday.
Frank Kastner, of Austin, spent
Sunday with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Fritz Kastner. Billy Joe Wal-
ton came with him and is spending
this week with his grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Swichmel, of
Beaumont, visited Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cartwright, of
Elgin; visited Sunday afternoon
in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Titus
Mundine.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Eschberger
were in Schulenburg Saturday af-
ternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stiendam
of Dallas called on Mr. and Mrs J.
H. Meyers Labor Day which was
a pleasant visit Mrs Stiendam is a
cousin of Mrs. Meyers and they

Mr. Lester Sanders of Houston
spent the week-end with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Sanders.
Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Roe of
Austin visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Chip Roe.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Burnham
spent Sunday afternoon in the
home of Mr. W. T. Stagner.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. R. Brocke, of
Elgin, visited with J. H. Meyers
last Friday. a

daughter, Ruth, August Behrend,
Jr. and wife, of Fredericksburg,
were week-end guests of relatives
in McDade.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schanhals of
Bastrop, Mr. and Mrs. Dale San-
ders, of Butler, visited a while
Saturday night in the home of Mr
and Mrs. W. P. Wilson.
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Meyers re-
turned from Houston Thursday
and report plenty rain down that
way.

funeral of Mr. Arthur Dungan, of
Luling, today (Monday).
Mrs. Willie Blackwell and Mr.
and Mrs. Jeff Caldwell, of Bas-
trop, spent Sunday in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Wilson.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rogers
and daughter, of Autin; Mr. and
Mrs. Poindexter Meyers and
■daughter of Bastrop; K. H. Mey-
er and family, of Houston, all
were home for the week-end of
Labor Day.
Lt. and Mrs. Robert Fritsche of
Silana, Kansas are on a three-
weeks visit with friends and rela-
tives in Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Swartz of
Austin, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Wat-
son had barbecued steak at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Hill-
man last Thursday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Bishop Dunkin of
Fredericksburg were week-end
visitors with friends and relatives
in and around McDade.
Mrs. Wallace Mundine Feted
Miss Lillian Alford and Mrs.
Ray McDavid honored Mrs. Wal-
lace Mundine, the former Mary
Louise Ernst, with a miscellaneous
shower Saturday evening from 8
to 10 at the home of Mrs. Ray Mc-
David.
Upon arrival the guests were
greeted by Miss Lillian Alford and
seated on the lawn which was at-
tractively decorated in Halloween
jack-o-lanterns, owls and witches.
Several interesting and lively
contests were played in which
Mesdames George Hughes and A.
Y. Field won prizes of pyrex re-
frigerator dishes and they in turn
presented them to the honoree.
A large box, beautifully decor-
ated in the Halloween colors of
orange and black, and containing
all of the individual gifts was pre-
sented to the honoree. She opened
the gifts and passed them among
the guests to admire and they
were then placed on display on a
large table which was decorated
in the chosen colors of orange
and black.
Mrs. Mundine expressed her ap-
preciation for the beautiful and
useful gifts in a very charming
manner and invited all the guests
present to visit her at her home
here which will be ready for oc-
cupancy after October first.
Orange napkins, gay with Hal-
loween motifs, were passed and
delicious refreshment plates laden
with chicken salad and pimento
cheese sandwiches, Chiffon cake,
devil’s food cake and punch were
served. Plate favors were orange
“grains of corn” candy in cello-
phane bags tied with black ribbon.
The hostesses were assisted in
serving by Mesdames George
Moore and James Jones, of Aus-
tin.
Guests attending this delight-
ful courtesy and wishing Mrs.
Mundine much happiness and suc-
cess all through life were Mes-
