Woodward, 65 years old, who
lives at 3460 West Michigan St.,
For (he sake of the Democrats
in Congress, Texas should vote
heavily in the general election
Tuesday, declared "Fighting Dan"
Moody, Democratic nominee for
Governor, in Fort Worth Wednes-
day.
“The bigger the Democratic
vote cast Tuesday, the stronger
will be the influence of our
Democratic Congressmen,” said
Moody.
“There are also four amend-
ments to the Constitution to be
voted on which are vital to our
government."
To Drive Rig.
Moody declared that the strong
demand made for clean govern-
ment by the Democratic Party in
the primaries would draw count-
less new voters to the standard.
‘Mody and Mrs. Moody will
drive a rig at the Stylo Horse
Show in the Coliseum tonight.
The nominee said an invitation to
attend the shpw and some private
business to be wound up here
brought him to Fort Worth.
“It’s been a long time since
I've driven a horse, but a man who
drives a Ford can drive anything,
I guess," laughed Moody.

State Penitentiary Warden N. L.

with having been host at a liquor

from Houston and Dallas, on the
night the Dallas "black terrors"
were electrocuted, was today's star
witness before the House investi-

O’Rourke came to Austin in
response to the committee’s sum-
mons. When he took the witness
stand, he was warned by H. N.
Graves, of the committee's coun-
sel, that “you don't have to make
any statement at all as it will be
used against you.”
"I realize that, and I am ready
to answer any questions,”
O’Rourke announced.
Didn't Receive Money.
At the time Governor Ferguson
suggested his appointment as
prison commission secretary,
O’Rourke said he was employed
by a Houston compress company.
One of the early questions ask-
ed O'Rourke was: "Have you ever
directly or Indirectly received
money from prisonets for par-

“I have not.”
“Have you at any time helped
anyone to get a pardon?”
"A convict named H. A. Wil-

sick, He told me his story, and
wanted to get out. He told me
of prisoners giving money to law-
yers and not getting pardons. 1 1
told him I would not do that, un-
less he put the money in escrow.
I told him I would see a man
named E. A. Posey. The warden
gave me a check and I gave it to
Posey. Williams got the pardon.
