bunch of ladies going over to Aus-
tin to work at State School, saw
quite a bit of it last night. We
were waterbound for over an hour
and a half at Gottonwood and two
other creeks between Elgin and
Austin. It really looked danger-
ous. Coon Neck got 1 inch of
rain.

dinner guests Thanksgiving Mrs.

Sterling Potts and Mrs. R. B.

Harrison, Jr. of Randolph Field,
San Antonio. Later in the after-
noon their hearts were made sad
by receipt of news from Mobile,
Ala. of the death of Mr. Stewart’s
sister, Mrs. Mary Stewart Buck
who succumbed to a heart attack.
_ Mrs. August Luedecke who has
made her home in Elgin since
back in the nineties recently went
to Austin to reside, and will be
happy to hear from old friends
and neighbors at 5504 Duval. She
is widely known in and around
Elgin through her services as a
nurse for many years, and has a
host of friends who will be glad
to keep in touch with her.

Mr. W. C. Tramp returned
home from the local hospital yes-
terday afternoon, where he was
taken Monday afternoon by am-
bulance after falling, when a lad-
der slipped, at the Willie Sakewitz
home where he was working, and
his left arm was fractured near
the shoulder. His sons Alfred and
Emil of Austin came over immed-
iately; Alfred returned Tuesday
and Emil came yesterday to see
mm safely home.

Mrs. Fails read the scripture
and Mrs. W. H. Rivers, III, speak- *

derful talk.- The concluding pray-
er was by Mrs. Fails, followed by 6
a hymn. Mrs. Wesley Niebuhr,
pianist, played the musical accom-
paniments.
The business session was called
to order by Mrs. Paul Jacobsen, b r
WSCS president. Minutes of pre-
vious meeting were read and ap-
proved after which the treasurer’s
report was heard and accepted, g.
Various officers, secretaries, and "
committee chairmen also made re-
ports.
Rev. Salazar, pastor of the
Mexican Methodist Church, who
also served as one of the early
pastors of the church, was intro-
duced and spoke briefly.

home in Georgetown from Louis-
iana, where he had been on a
several day’s business trip, and el
was accompanied from here by Mr
and Mrs. J. R. Turner, who spent
Thanksgiving in Georgetown, re-
turning to Elgin Friday.

Coon Neck, Dec. 1—Thanks-
giving was a very nice day —and
so many things to be thankful for.
I believe most all the neighbors
had much company that day, chil-
dren and grandchildren alike seem
to gather around the old home
with mother and dad. Seems like
on this special day there is a
closeness, a renewing of love, un-
derstanding, and a deep Thank-
fulness deep down in our hearts
for the things that make life
worth living.
Glad in deed to report we en-
joyed a wonderful service at the
cnurch. Rev. and Sister Tollie
B. Hurst, of Corpus Christi, were
o " guests. Bro. Hurst preached
Saturday night and Sunday morn-
ing.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Sandifer,
Sr. were guests in the Milam
home Monday morning.
Guests in the W. C. Sandifer
home Sunday were Mrs. Dale
Kruger and children, of Austin.
Mr .and Mrs. H. Campbell and
grandchildren, Bobby, Bonnie and
Judy Milam were guests in the
Tom Dildy home last Thursday
night.
