Ridgeway Baptist
Church has not always
been the type of church
it is today. The original
church was built in
1870 by a group of
churches.
The Methodist Episco-
pal Church, the Cum-
berland Presbyterian
Church and the Baptist
Church purchased the
original four and three-
fourths acres.
There was a fire that
destroyed the church
and it was rebuilt in
1927.
A second fire de-
stroyed the church and
it was rebuilt in 1937.
Sadly, the church was
abandoned for approxi-
mately 30 years.
On June 2,1985, at 11
a.m. the church re-
opened under Pastor
Bill Bryant as Ridgeway
Baptist Church.
The beautiful stained
glass windows of the
old sanctuary were
made and donated by
Pat Wells.
•Jack Gilmore is the
present pastor.
In a herald to the past,
the original sanctuary
is the present day
youth hall, while
church services con-
tinue to be held in the
sanctuary built in 1999.
Ridgeway Baptist
Church continues to
grow and thrive. The
church motto is “taught
by the bible, led by the
spirit!”

tegrity as we respect
ourselves and others.
How many times in
life do we see and
hear people talk
about the need to
honor and respect
some thing or some-
one?
As a child, I remem-
ber the importance to
my parents and grand-
parents that we as
children must honor
and respect things
such as flags, God,
country and family.
Never in my young
years did I think to re-
spect and honor my-
self first.
It has taken me a
long time to come to
the conclusion that
