Flies.....perhaps a less than I
“couth" subject, but one that is I
definitely timely. *
With cold weather and hard frosts I
already here, one would think that
the pesky, domestic beastie known j
as the common housefly would have I
departed for a few months...but not I
so I
in the afternoons when things I
warm up, the little aerial I
aggravationists swarm in record
numbers.
At our house site there is a three ’
inch hole in a door where a doorknob ,
has not yet been placed. And as the |
temperature drops outside and stays
warm inside, one can sit back and |
look at a stream of flies droning in I
like they had been assigned the place -
for an operations base.
Other folks inform me that it is the
same way at their homes
The irritating, unsanitary little
insects make a holding pattern
outside the door, circling patiently
until the door opens , then, with a
precision that most pilots would
envy, they make a perfect dive and
land inside a warm, comfy house
Of course, manyrof them meet a
drastic end. Fly swatting, while not
too graceful an exercise, does
require skill, cunning and speed. In
fact, it might not be a bad choice if
the Olympics ever want to add
another sport to their repertoire.
Poisons, swatting, sticky papers
and screens do limit the
population...but it certainly doesn’t
eliminate it! Nothing seems to keep
the infamous fly from his appointed
duties!
Duties? What duties does a fly
have? Well, ti seems to me that they
have been specifically appointed to
do several things Drown themselves
in any form of food, hide under ice
cubes in glasses...swarm around a
table, even if there isn’t anything
more than a salt shaker on it..land
on noses and eyebrows ,it’s quite a
long list.
They are, perhaps, put here as a
challenge to mankind. A symbol of
first qtarter to the Panther’s 12.
North Lamar came back in the
second period with 22 points to
Rivercrest's 14. The halftime score
was tied at 34 each. The Rebels hit
for 16 more in the third period to
their opponent’s 14. The final quarter
was much the same with Rivercrest
scoring 20 points and North Lamar 1
18 The final tally was 70-66 in favor I
of the Rebels. I
