1 The BEE has been criticising ”
local affairs so much of late, that
it fears being classed with the
chronic grumblers, but it is satis- .
noil that such a charge will not be e
preferred against it on account of
its calling attention the fact that the
cpurt. house yard is sadly in need
of being cleared of its luxuriant
coat of grass and weeds. It isun-
worthy of the county, the town ana
the people, and to a stranger it
looks more like a neglected hay
farm than public grounds. The
few sikly shrubs are partially hie
by the grass and lend a kind o
abandon’ effect to the whole.
I here is no money in the treasu-
ryTfor such a improvement, nor
will there be as long as “15 cents
on the hundred dollars” is levied
to hear all the expenses of the
county. A few more cents would
scarcely be felt by the taxpayer,
and it would be agreeable to them,
no doubt. It is hoped that com-
missioners will pay more atten-
tion to these minor improvements
of the county’s property, as it is
of us much value as an Advertise-
