The Port Lavaca Toastmas-
ers Club held a joint dinner
meeting with the Greater Vic-
toria Toastmasters. Club on
Tuesday, June A3, at Mammy's
Cafeteria in Victoria with
George Mallett as presiding of-

The Port Lavaca
Scout Troop 109. had a camp-
out and cook-out at Point Com-
tort City Park this past week.
The boys pitched their tents at
noon on Thursday, cooked noon
meal on Thursday and a even-
ing meal on Thursday night
and their breakfast on Friday.
Adult leaders who camped out
with the boys were Mrs. Julis
Horecka and Mr. W. B. Best.
As their camping project, the
boys trimmed the palm trees in
the park. They also had a class
in the care and use of a rifle
and also close order drill in-
structed by Mr Best The boys
went swimming Thursday after-
noon and fishing following their
eveing meal After breakfast

Plans for the four-day July
1-4 Fishing Festival are in the
final stages, and shaping up
well according to co-chairmen

A complete schedule of events
has not yet been announced by
the sponsoring Jaycees and
Lions, but activities listed so
far, in addition to the Fishing
Contest. Include a parade at 10
a m. July 1, a carnival at the
Bayfront Park all during the
Festival, a dance on Monday
night, and fireworks at the Bay-
front on July 4

Teen-age night at the Point
Comfort Pool is bigger and bet-
ter each Tuesday night that rolls
around. In the three years that
the pool has held a Teen-age
night, it has grown from a
handful to the astounding 166
teen-agers who made up last
Tuesday's party. The young peo-
ple have been a very orderly
group and the city is proud of
the way they have conducted
