Who Is Nutrena?
Nutrena Mills, Inc., is one of the nation’s largest feed man-
ufacturers. We manufacture and sell feeds in 24 of the leading
agricultural states in the country.
In closing, let me say that I hope to be in Giddings soon.
When I do, I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as 1
possibly can. Nutrena Is moving forward. And we are happy that
folks in Giddings will move forward with us.
How Old Is Nutrena?
Nutrena is one of the oldest feed companies in the world.
In fact, Nutrena was a leader in the earliest days of the “formula
feed” business 35 years ago.
Why Has Nutrena Grown So Fast?
Quality, and good service. From our very beginnings 35
years ago, we have plowed back profits into research. Through
research we have been able to pioneer many of the major advances
in feeds—advances that have improved the quality of the feed and
improved the farmer’s production of milk, meat and eggs.
We will try to answer many of your questions here. If xou
still have some unanswered questions after reading this, please*
feel free to write me in care of our Wichita Falls office . . .
Why Did We Fick Giddings?
The economy of Texas — especially South central Texas
— is growing by leaps and bounds. And so is Nutrena's sales vol-
ume. We needed additional facilities to take care of this tremend-
ous growth. Rather than add to our present feed mills, we de-
cided to locate in Giddings, heart of this booming Texas empire,
in order to give our customers the benefit of the lower freight
rates and better service possible from this nearby source of supply.
AI UTRENA has just purchased the Fairmont Foods Company
Feed Mill in Giddings. This fine mill is a vital part of the
economic life of Giddings. Many of you depend upon the
mill, directly or indirectly, for your livelihood. So naturally,
you are wondering who we are, what about the future, and what
this means to you. “
What About The Future? .
We at Nutrena are filled with optimism for the fabulous
future of farming—especially in this heartland of Texas. New in-
dustry, new developments in farming and ranching, and new de-
velopments in livestock and poultry feeding all point to a great fu-
ture for the farmer—for Nutrena—and for Giddings.
We operate mills in Wichita Falls; Meridian, Mississippi;
Memphis, Tennessee; Coffeyville, Kansas; and six other cities in
addition to this new plant in Giddings. We also have many ware-
houses offering convenient sources of supply for Nutrena feeds.
What Does Nutrena Make?
Nutrena manufactures a complete line of feeds for hogs,
chickens, beef cattie, turkeys, broilers, dairy cows, sheep, rab-
, bits and dogs. A full line of Nutrena feeds will be available at
Well, nobody can predict the future. But I will say this:
Nutrena is growing—fast. Many of our mills are operating at
more than 100% capacity with extra shifts. The farm economy of
south central Texas is booming. And so is Nutrena’s volume. Yes,
the future looks good—for Nutrena, for the farmers of south cen-
tral Texas, and for Giddings.
Because of the high quality of Nutrena feeds, we have been
able to stand back of them 100 percent. As a result, our business
has grown steadily—and nowhere more rapidly than in Texas the
last few years.
