Good turn
Editor, The Prospector:
At our last two Student Council
meetings things took a turn for the
best. For the first time, council
supported legislation sponsored or
supported by myself.
The council voted in favor of the
reestablishment of the Mayor’s Liaison
Board, provided that the City Council
also approves the amendments to the
original ordinance passed by the
student council. Thanks for the hard
work done by Terry Gay, Presidential
Assistant, and Marvin Jefferson,
External Affairs Vice President, in
traveling to and from City Hall, the
reestablishment of this board has

Recent requests by some faculty members for a private club
are encouraging. They finally are getting together on an issue.
Maybe the requests should be met. An exclusive club for the
faculty should be built—as soon as a club for students is
completed.
After all, students are the foundation of the University. If
there were no students, there would be no University.
Of course, faculty members would contend that they are the
backbone of the University. They would contend that-ifthey had
an exclusive club to gather in.
If they had such a club, faculty members could discuss all sorts
of issues. They might, for instance, decide who would pay the tab
or discuss the quality of lunch at the club compared to lunch at
the Union cafeteria.
Faculty members need an exclusive club about as much as the.
University needs a new football stadium. If the stadium was not
used, at least it could be filled with water and be used as a
swimming pool. What could be done with a 23,000-square-foot
faculty club if the faculty didn’t use it? Maybe it could be
converted to a mansion for the new executive vice president.
