Wichita Falls.
The following account appear-
ed in the Wi hita Falls Times.
Mi. and Mrs John Philip
Mowrey are on a wedding
trip through the Caroinas,
Virginia, West Virginia and
Washington. D. C., after their
wedding Sunday afternoon at
the First Baptist Church.
The couple will make their
home in Waco where he will
finish work on his master’s de-
gree at Baylor and the bride
will teach school.
She is the former Miss Don-
na Sue Tinney, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Tinney Jr.,
4915 Lake Park, Mr. and
Mrs. John F. Mowrey of Nash-
ville, Tenn, are the-bride-
groom’s parents.
: Dr. Landrum P. Leave! per-
formed the ceremony. The rail
before which the wedding par-
ty stood was covered with mag-
nolia foliage. Two large mag-
nolia trees accented the nup-
tial setting which also featured
magnolia scented votive can-
dles and foliage outlined the
choir loft.

Son of Former Bardwell Man
The candlelit sanctuary of the
First Presbyterian Church of
Big Spring was the setting Sat-
urday evening for the formal
ceremony which united in mar-
riage Miss Suzanne Cook and
Coye Conner Jr. The double
ring ceremony was performed at
8 o’clock by Perry B. Cotham,
minister of the 14th and Main
Church of Christ, Big Spring.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Cook,
Big Spring, and the bride-
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Coye Conner Sr., 2406
. Copner will be a senior at
Baylor University where he has
been a two-year letterman on
the varsity football team. He
served as pledge captain of his
social club, Tryon Coterie, and
was a member of the Fellow-
ship of Christian Athletes. Con-
ner is a business administration
major and plans to attend Bay-
lor Law School upon his grad-
uation.
For traveling, Mrs. Conner
chose a pale green linen suit
with matching accessories and
the corsage from her bridal
Ridgecrest, Garland, formerly of
Big Spring. .
The bridegroom’s father was
born and reared at Bardwell, the
son of Mrs. W. A. Conner of
Waxahachie, formerly of Ennis
and the late Mr. Conner. .
Attending the wedding from
Ennis were the bridegroom’s
aunt, Mrs. E. P. Moore, and Mr.
Moore. Also among the many
out of town guests were his

BRIDE J GOWN
The bride V as given in mar-
riage by ner father. She wore
a Bianchi original in ivory sat-
in with a formal- train. The
bodice was trimmed with or-
ange blossoms fashioned of
seed pearls and French knots.
The pearl motifs extended
into the front panel of the
skirt and her tulle veil was
fastened to a tiara of crystals
and pearls. Her bouquet was
a semicrescent .carried over
a prayer book. The blossoms
were magnolias arranged with
ropes of pearls, French lace,
foliage and stephanotis.

Miss Mary Jo. Smith, Lil-
bourn, Mo., was maid of hon-
or. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Jimmie Verveck, Oklahoma
City; Mrs. Ross Crawford,
Tucson; Misses S Connie and

line dresses of white ivory
satin overlaid with mint
green organza with capes edg-
ed in green satin and pearls.
Their wide - trimmed horse-
hair braid hats also were
trimmed in satin and pearls.

pearls.

The couple were graduated
from Baylor University. The
bride has taught at Ben Mil-
am elementary school this
year and was a member and
officer of Athenian Girls So-
cial club at Bavlor. She also
was on the Deans Honor List.
She was graduated from Wich-
ita Falls High School and was
president of Junior Forum and
a deb in 1963.
Mowrey took the B. A. cum
laude and is an honorary mem-
ber of Aplha Chi, Omicron
Delta Epsilon and Beta Alpha
Psi. He also is on the Dean’s List.
He was graduated from
Peabody Demonstration School
in Nashville and was a mem-
ber of Alpha Chi, prep school
fraternity.

Attends Workshop
With Tyler Group
Mrs. Opal Bryant will go to
Austin this week to attend the
Teachers Association for Child-
hood Education, a Teachers
Growth Workshop, at the Univer-
ity of Texas.
Mrs. Bryant will go with a
group of teachers as a guest of
the D. K. Caldwell Private School
of Tyler.

emerald fern trees in graduat-
ed heights. The bridal aisle was
lighted with pew candelabra
holding votive candles arid tied
in smilax and satin.
Nuptial selections were played
by Mrs. Leslie Green at the or-
gan. She accompanied Mrs.
Harold Talbot as she sang
"More," and Mrs. Talbot was
joined by Lester Morton in sing-
ing “Thanks Be To God.” At
the close of the ceremony, Mor-
ton sang “The Lord’s Prayer”
as the couple knelt on a white
prie-dieu.
BRIDE’S GOWN
The bride was escorted to the
altar and given in marriage by
her father. She wore a white
formal - length gown designed
with an Empire bodice and el-
bow-length sleeves of Chantilly
lace, a scalloped neckline and
A-line silk organza skirt. Scat-
tered appliques of lace accent-
ed the skirt front, and soft
pleats at the back waist fell to
a chapel train. Her headpiece,
a Chantilly lace pillbox trimmed
with pearls and topped with a
cluster of organza flowers and
petals, held her train - length
veil of English silk illusion.: In
her shoes she wore a sixpense,
a gift from the flower girl.
Atop a white Bible, she carried
a cascade arrangement of
stephanotis and white orchids
accented with pearl leaves arid
showered with picot satin.

Miss Jacquelyn Cook, the
bride’s sister, was maid of hon-
or and was attired in a floor
length gown of apricot silk chif-
fon styled with a scoop neck-
line, short puff sleeves of pleat-
ed chiffon and a slim skirt. A
band of satin with a back bow
and streamers emphasized the
Empire bodice.
Bridesmaids were Miss Jode
McClung, San Angelo; Miss
Nancy Hedleston. Miss Jane
McElrath, Miss Charlotte Shive
and Miss Karen Koger. They
were identically dressed in
gowns in a deeper apricot, and
all wore matching self fabric
bows with circular veils. Each
carried a topiary bouquet of
yellow carnations accented with
English ivy and tied in apricot
shades of satin.

Roberts’ reunion in DeSoto Sun-
day. About 100 were present.

Parents of the bridegroom
hosted the rehearsal dinner Fri-
day evening at Big Spring Coun-
try Club which was attended by
35 persons. The dining table was
centered with an arrangement
of white daisies and chrysan-
themums, and the bridegroom
presented gifts to his attend-
ants.
The bride had presented gifts
to her atendants at the brides-
maids luncheon preceding the
rehearsal dinner.
She was honored with a series
of pre-nuptial parties, including
a kitchen shower—rice bag par-
ty at the home of Mrs. E. S.
Shive of Big Spring. The eleven
hostesses wore corsages of kit-
chen gadgets which they present-
ed the honoree along with
the hostess’ gift, an electric cof-
fee pot, following the presenta-
tion of the shower gifts by the
20 guests present.
The bride’s colors apricot and
yellow, were used in the decora-
tion. The refreshment table was
decorated with an arrangement
of daisies and Coke bottles and
was centered with a straw hat
with apricot and yellow roses.
SURGERY TODAY
Mrs. George Yowell is in the
W. C. Tenery Hospital, Waxaha-
chie. She. will undergo major
surgery today.
Farmer Barely
Escapes Death in
Tractor Mishap
Manuel Reyes, Avalon farmer
narrowly escaped being crushed
to death when he was caught
between his tractor and a 500-
gallon overhead gasoline tank.
Mr. Reyes cranked his trac-
tor while standing beside it and
from unknown cause the ve-
hicle got in gear and crushed
him against the stand s u p-
porting the tank, it was related.
The tractor pushed the tank ov-
er and the supports wedged him
under the tractor and the tank
fell on top of the left rear
wheel.
Aubrey Berry, a passerby, no-
ticed smoke coming from the
tractor. He stopped, found the
right wheel spinning on t h e
ground and about to catch on
fire. Mr. Berry, when he saw
Mr. Reyes under the tractor,
called for help and it required
about an hour to free Mr. Reyes.
As the Avalon Fire Department
sprayed the tractor with water,
the rescuers used bolt cutters,
chisels and hack saws to free
Mr. Reyes.
The victim was taken to the
hospital, Waxahachie where he
was given emergency treatment
and was released. He suffered
several cuts and bruises.
EXPECT STORMS
A few thunderstorms are ex-
pected in the western sections
of the Texas Panhandle and Sou-
th Plains and West of the Pecos
this afternoon and tonight. Most
of the state will be clear to part-
ly cloudy and quite warm.

Farewell Supper Honors Rev. and
Mrs. Williams, Rider Methodist
Members and friends of the
Walter Rider Church honored
the Rev. and Mrs. Frank Wil-
liams with a lawn supper at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Mc-
Lemore, Thursday night. —
The Rev. Williams has served
the Rider Church as pastor for
the past two years, along with
the Avalon and Bardwell Metho-
dist Churches.
The pastor held his regular
weekly service at the Ennis
Nursing Home prior to the party.
This is a service the Rev. Wil-
liams, has rendered through love
for the aged, who are unable to
attend church..
The large representation of
the Rider Church played domino-

were Sunday visitors of Mr. and

had just returned from a trip to
Europe and the Holy Land, and

Mrs. Mabel Robertson and
daughter, Mrs. Eloise Pool of En-
nis, went to Dallas on Saturday
to visit A. J. Mason, patient in
Baptist Hospital, also visited with
their daughter and sister, Mrs.
Mason.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Johnson,
Dallas, spent the week end with
her sister, Miss Ruth Roach,
Mrs. J. E. Roach, Waxahachie,
spent Sunday.
Mrs. A. W. Hayes spent a few
days in the home of her daugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Rector,
in Grand Prairie.
Mr. and Mrs. Edd Hargus were
Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr.
and Mrs. W. L. Dyess, Oak Grove
Rd. Mrs. Dyess had returned
home from the Memorial Hospi-
tal, in Corsicana, being there a
week for observation.

will be there a week or more
for treatment, of a pulled liga-
ment which is in traction.

Okla., is spending this week with

daughter Mrs. Nick Riley and
sons Jeff and Kenneth of Dallas

Mr. Griffin was a retired
Army veteran, who was employ-
ed in the Veterans Hospital at
Albuquerque.
A military funeral was given
by the Army at the Military
Cemetery at Santa Fe., where
interment took place.
He is survived by his wife,
Agnes, three sons and two
daughters, all of Albuquerque;
and two sisters, Mrs. Marshall of
Ennis, and Mrs. K. G. Graham,
Hammond, Ind.
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall have
just returned from services.
Mrs. Marshall today was pre-
paring to leave for Hammond,
Ind., to attend funeral services
for aunt, Mrs. Steve Walker, who
died morning following.

Miss Dianne Allen was maid
of honor and Rony Hyles of Italy
served as best man. Miss Allen
wore a floor-length gown of pink
chiffon with long white gloves
and carried a white nosegay of
mixed flowers.
Following the ceremony, a re-
ception was held in the Palmer
Community Center. After a
brief wedding trip, the couple
will live in Palmer.
