LITERARY AND SOCIAL CLUB
The Rhodora Literary and Social
Culb met Sunday afternoon with a
large attendance of both members and
visitors. After the usual routine of
business, much time was spent in the
discussion of a future project that
will mean much to the group and
the public.
Miss Larcelita Terrell was received
as a new member by the club.
Eight pot holders were contributed
by the Rhodoras and presented to the
Y. W. C. A. secretary. An enjoyable
evening was completed with a de-
lightful repast of whipped Jello and
cake.

One of the most congenial groups
of the 4th of July holiday season was
the party of campers which motored
down to Galveston Sunday evening,
spending the week-end in the Island
City and returning to Houston Mon-
day evening. Tbs party went down
in automobiles including those of Mr.
and Mrs. Jas. T. Ewing, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis January, Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Rice, Mr. Swisher and Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. D. Johnson, Jr. Mr. and Mrs.
Connie L. Guess motored down early
Monday morning and joined the
group.
On reaching Galveston, the party
went immediately to West Bench
where they pitched camp. During
their short stay, fishing, crabbing,
swimming, boating and games of all
kinds were enjoyed. On Monday af-
ternoon, many additions came out and
