Fagle—Double Bayou. School at
the Mt Zion Baptist Church was well
untended. Sunday school at the M. E.
Church was opened at its usual hour,
with the pastor, Rev. F. G. Byrd,
present. He delivered two wonderful
sermons. Rev. and Mrs. Byrd attend-
ed the association at Houston August
1 and a very enjoyable time was
reported. Bev. J. L. Kelly of Beau-
ment, pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist
Church here, spent a few days on
Double Bayou last week. Mr. and
Ms. Leonard Cole, also, Miss Mary
Rrowm and Brothers of Beaumont,
visited Mrs. M. Gill Saturday.

his brother, Arthur Jackson, went to
Siam Antonio one day last week.

The lesson was very inspiring. A
very brief but timely review of the
lesson was made by Rev. Harnsberry.
We had as our guest for the entire
day Rev. and Mrs. Harnsberry of 3410
Calhoun, Houston, Texas.
11 o’clock service was wonderful.
Prayer service was conducted by Sis-
ter M. Fort and Sister 0. Williams.
Rev. Harnsberry preached a wonder-
ful sermon from this subject: Jesus
the only example.
We were blessed with another
burning message at 3 o’clock by Rev.
Harnsberry, using as his text, “My
witness is in heaven and my record is
on high.” Our hearts were made to
rejoice as this man of God spoke to
us out of his soul. Prayer service was
conducted by Deacon Williams and
Bro. Jackson.
B. Y. P. U. opened at the usual hour
with Bro. Williams in charge. The
groups were instructed by Rev.
Harnsberry. 7:80 er service was
led by Deacon Wil s and Sister
Alexander.
The pastor came to us with another
message, theme: “The expected
Christ.” He preached a sermon that
will long be remembered.
The pastor spent Saturday night
and Sunday in Port Arthur and Beau-
mont.
sermon in itself on “Hannah, a de-
voted mother.” After adjournment
morning services were immediately
entered into. Devotionals were con-
ducted by Sister Josie Davis and Dea-
con Keesee. Responsive reading were
from 3rd chapter, 2nd Cor. Text from
the last clause of 6th verse. Theme:
"The power of the Holy Spirit,” which
was food for our hungry souls.
B. Y. P. U. opened promptly at 6:15
,with vice president, Sister Ida Mat-
thews, presiding. After a few remarks
by the president, the union was given
to Bro. F. L. Denman, Captain of
group No. 2, who rendered an excel-
lent program from the subject,
“David."
Night services were largely attend-
ed. Devotionals were led by Deacons
Tucker and High. Pastor led in re-
peating the 23rd Psalm. The senior
and junior choirs added much to the
services in their reviving songs. After
a few remarks by way of introduc-
tion the pastor presented Rev. Dr. J.
A. Sharpe from the National Baptist
Publishing Board, Nashville,. Tenn.,
who delivered a most wonderful ser-
mon from Matthew 26:21, using as a
theme: “Faithful and Reward.” We
all were highly pleased and blessed
with Dr. Sharpe and hope he may
come again soon to see us.—Reporter.

ference day, the presiding elder, Rev.
J. M. Johnson, delivered the message.
The junior choir furnished music. At
7 o’clock the president, Mrs. M. C.
Jamison, opened the A. C. E. League.
The junior choir were at their post
with their melodious voices. The les-
son was turned over to the leaders,
Rev. E. L. Goodlow and Mrs. M. H.
Whitehead. The topics were assigned
and discussed by the young people.
The league is improving in both atten-
dance and collection. We hope that
they will continue.
At 8 o’clock services opened again
with the senior choir rendering the
music. Rev. C. W. White delivered the
message. St. James was glad to have
the visitors present and they are al-
