HOT SPRINGS RATIFIES.
Hon. Minor Wallace of our city the
Chosen Orator of che Oc-
casion.
Hot Springs held a grand torche-
light parade and ratification meet-
ing on Thursday night and it is re-
ported as one of the grandest af-
fairs ever held at the Springs.
Some two hundred torches were
in the parade and many carriages
buggies and horsemen were in line.
The Main street of the city was
marched through and much enthu-
siasm displayed by all who lined the
curb.
Mr. Minor Wallace who had been
invited to deliver the address was
placed in an open carriage and
driven in front of the column.
DThe papers of. the city say of
Mr. Wallace's effort:
Hon. Minor Wallace was in-
troduced by President Geo. Gray
of the Bryamn club and for
nearly an hour that bril-
}liamt and peerless young orator
held the rapt attention of the vast
aundience although he spoke under
great disadvantages it requiring
great effort to make himself heard
in the open air by the immense as-
semblage. He paid a glowing trib-
‘ute to W. J. Bryan the brilliant
?statcsm:m and standard-bearer of
‘the national democracy and his
running mate Hon. Arthur Sewall
of Maine. He touched up in a vig-
;orous manner the bolters of the
Chicago convention and predicted
a sweeping victory for democracy
and free coinage next November.
His speech was a feast of reason’
and eloquence and when the speak-
er concluded he was greeted with
great applause.—News
The orator of the evening Hon.
Minor Wallace of Texarkana was
introduced by Mr. George Gray
president or the Bryan club. The
speaker under the inspiration of
the occasion and his subject amply
sustained his wide reputation as
‘the peerless young orator of Ark-
ansas it not of the’entire South.
He was constantly greeted with
rapturous applause and set his
great audience wild with enthusi-
asm as he pleaded the cause of Bry-
an Democracy and humanity. Thei
impression produced by his great
speech will be lasting and the !
crowd seemed loathe to cease listen- |
ing to his burning eloquence —Sen- '
tinel. f
The News says in an editorial no-‘
tice of Mr. Wallace's speech: When
Hon Minor Wallace in his address‘
at the big ratification paid a glow- I
ing tribute to Arkansas’ foremost
statesman and democratic leader |
J. K. Jones the vast audience broke
torth in an un restrained shout of
applause till the adjacent hills re-
verberated with the echo. ‘
What Constitutes a Family Medicine?
A preparation which is adapted
to the relief and cure of ailments to
which members of a household are
most subject and which is not only
alleged to do this but has long and
unfailingly proved its adility to do‘
It assuredly deserves the title ot a
reliable family medicine. Among |
time-honored preparations which 1
experience and the sanction ot the
medical profession indicate as de-
serving of popular regard and con-l
fidence is Hostetter's Stomach Bit-
ters a medicine adapted to the
eradication of dyspepsia constipa=
tion and biliousness the three most
frequently occurring ailments that
vex mankind Derived from a
botanic parentage it is cfficient as
well as pure and wholesome. It re-
lieves nervous disquietude and inac-
tivity of the kidneys and counter-
acts a tendency to rheumatism. For
renewing flagging strength and im-=
parting appetite it can be implicitly
relied upon. Fever and ague rheu-
matism and debility are remedied
by it.

Gladness Comes
Witha better understanding of the
transient nature of the many phys- |
ical ills which vanish before proper es- :
forts—gentle efforts—pleasant efforts— |
rightly directed. There is comfort in |
the knowledge that so many forms of |
| sickness are not due to any actual dis-
ease but simply to a constipated condi-
tion of the system which the pleasant
family laxative Syrup of Figs. prompt-
‘ ly removes. That is why it is the only
‘ remedy with millions of families andis
everywhere esteemed so highly by all
‘ who value good health. Its lwnvficiult
| effects are due to the fact that itis the |
one remedy which promotes internal
cleanliness without debilitating the‘
organs on which it acts. It is therefore
nll important in order to get its bene-
ficial effects to note when you pur-
chase that yon have the genuine arti-
cle which is manufactured by the Cali-
fornia Fig Syrup Co. only and sold by
all reputable druggists. ‘
If in the enjoyment of good health
and the system is regnlar laxatives or i
uther remedies are then not needed. If‘
afflicted with any actoal disease one|
may be commended to the most skillful |
1 physicians but if in need of a laxative
one should have the best and with the’
well-informed everywhere Syrup of |
Figs stands highest ~nd is most largely |
i used and gives most general satisfaction. |
