Farmers Return From Canada
With New Flock Of Cashmeres
Lynn and Jim Farmer of Mul-
lin have recently returned from
Tofield, Canada with 65 cash-
mere goats just released from a
ninety day quarantine and
sonogrammed pregnant with
embryos collected from South
African Boer goats. These goats
have been placed in a voluntary
five year scrapie program on
their ranch and will begin kid-
ding May 23rd.
These recipient goats repre-
sent the largest genetic pool ever
collected from South Africa. The
genetics were carefully chosen
by Dr. T. H. Teh of International
Sales and Show records. These
Grand Champion bucks are
known in South Africa as "Wen,"
"Ben," "Benc," "Vlag," "87,"
"Weener," "SK," "Tjotsie,"
"Moord," and current bucks in
Al stud, "Norster" and "Popeye."
"Popeye is the top ranked veld
(range) performance tested buck
in South Africa. These genetics
. came from both the Eastern
Cape and Northern Cape of
South Africa from herds owned
by Japie Jordaan, Jackie
