I shared 7Up recipes from "Cook-
ing with Dr. Pepper and 7UP" last
week and thought I would share some
different Dr. Pepper recipes this week.

CINNAMON CORDIAL
2 c. Dr. Pepper
1 small (1/2-inch) stick cinnamon
Pour Dr. Pepper in saucepan. Add
cinnamon and heat slowly until it
steams vigorously. Remove cinna-
mon before serving. Serve in mugs.
Yield: 2 to 3 servings.
USES FOR DPQ SAUCE
Salad dressing
Marinade for steaks, chicken and
kabobs
Basting for grilling
Baked beans
BBQ Rice
Vegetable casserole
Hamburger patties/meat loaf
Marinade
Place chicken, steak or kabob to

2-1/2 c. Dr. Pepper
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. lemon juice
1 c. catsup
I tsp. garlic powder
1/4 c. dry minced onion
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper or red
pepper sauce
1 tsp. basil
Blend together on stir speed of
blended for 2 minutes. Store in tightly
sealed container and refrigerate.
Shake well before using. (Will keep
for several weeks in refrigerator.)
Yield: 4 1/2 cups.

APPLE MUFFINS
1 egg, beaten
4 Tbsp, shortening, melted
1/2 c. sugar
3 Tbsp, dry milk (optional)
2 c. all-purpose flour
3 Tbsp, baking powder
1/8 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. Dr. Pepper
1 c. raw apple (2 med.) finely
grilled in a large casserole dish chopped
Topping:
and pour enough DPQ sauce over
meat to cover completely so that all
sides are coated with marinade. Cover
and allow meat to marinate from 4 to
24 hours before grilling.

PRALINES
1 c. white sugar
1 c. dark brown sugar
1 c. Dr. Pepper
4 large marshmallows
2 to 3 c. pecan or walnut halves
In heavy saucepan mix together
sugars and Dr. Pepper. Cook over
low heat stirring constantly until all
sugar is dissolved, then cook stirring
occasionally until soft ball stage
(238°) is reached. Remove from heat,
add marashmalows and nutmeats to-
gether. Beat hard 1 to 2 minutes until
mixture starts to cream. Drop on
waxed paper in small balls, about 1
Tbsp, at a time. They should flatten
out around edges leaving a mound of
nutmeats in center.

MOIST SUPPER CAKE
1-1/4 c. boiling Dr. Pepper
1 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1-1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Pour Dr. Pepper over oats,1 iBr and
let stand 15 to 20 minutes.Mean-
while, cream shortening, add sugars
gradually and cream well. Add eggs,
beating until mixture is fluffy. Sift
flour with salt, soda and nutmeg. Add
flour mixture to creamed mixture,
mixing well. Add oatmeal and mix
thoroughly. Pour into 9x9x2 inch
pan, greased and floured. Bake at
375° for 40 to 45 minutes or until
cake tests done. Remove from oven.
Spread topping over hot cake and
place under broiler. Broil until bub-
bly and lightly brown. Serve warm.
Yeild: 12 to 16 servings.
Topping: Mix 1/3 c. melted but-
ter with 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/4 c.
light cream and 1 c. fine grated coco-
nut.
2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Peel and finely chop apple. Beat
eggs, add sugar, melted shortening
and Dr. Pepper. Sift together dry milk,
flour, baking powder, salt and soda.
Add to egg mixture along with
chopped apple. Stir only until all dry
ingredients are moistened. Do not
over beat. Fill greased muffin cups 2/
3 full. Sprinkle small amount of sugar
cinnamon mixtuc over each muffin.
Bake at 375° for 20 minutes. Serve
hot. Yield: 2 dozen (2-1/2 inch) muf-
fins.
CORNBREAD
1 pgk. cornbread mix
Dr. Pepper
Prepare cornbread as instructed
on package substituting Dr. Pepper
for the recommended liquid. For a
crispy-crust cornbread, bake in a
greased pre-heated baking pan. When
the batter is poured it will begin to
cook imediatately. Replace baking
pan in oven and bake as directed.

prc-kindcrgartcn student, and Higginbotham's Lumber Company donated
the pots, plants and soil to make it possible for each student to have a
Mother's Day gift to give. North Ward Elementary students painted the
clay pots and then planted a flower for their Mother's Day gifts. These'
students were assisted by Ms. Polk, a Higginbotham's employee, who
