high time something was done about it.- Min-

The annual report of the National Forest Res-
ervation Commission, which has just been
transmitted to Congress by Secretary of War
Weeks, president of the Commission, calls at
tention to the fact that the aggregate amount of
land which has been purchased for eastern and
southern national forests now amounts to 2,-
346,354 acres. These national forest lands are
distributed in 19 units in 11 different States,

The new cement twenty-foot bridge in beau-
tiful Finch Park will soon be finished and
ready for the public—by the New Year. The
Lions’ Club of McKinney championed the big
enterprise, and the real credit goes to these live-
wire doers and builders. The City Commission,
backed by the Lions’ Club and all of our peo-
ple, are mighty prond of this new bridge. It’s
a humdinger, believe us. Finch Park is a mighty
pretty place. Just watch this already beauty-
spot grow flaring 1925.
Brother, you’re in a bad fix if you value the
opinion others have of you more than the opin-
ion you have of yourself. That’s proof that
you need to have your mental and moral make-
up stabilized. You’re a straw in a whirlwind
if the world's opinion of you can either elevate
you to the mountain top or cast you in the
slough of despond.
A business man of my town, whose moral life
was without reproach, but who was not a
church member, died recently and at the
graveside, in hearing of a dozen sorrowing
relatives and scores of friends, a minister
preached him straight to hell.” There are
times when even truthful words may not be
fitly spoken. I do not believe that a merciful
mail will attempt to “point a moral” at the
expense of breaking hearts already agonizing.
