' License Taxes.
Soc. 1. Beit enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
tati ves of the Republic of Texas in Congress assembled, That
irom and after the first of February next, those persons who de<<
sire to pursue any vocation npon which by the cxisting-law, a li-
cense tax is levied, shall p«yJo the Treasurer of the couuty, the
amount of money due for such license, and on presenting the
Treasurer's receipt, stating distinctly the avocation to be pur-
sued, to the clerk of the county caurt, he shall issue the corres-

Soc. 3. Be It further enacted,, That whenever information is
lodged bofore any Justico of.the Peace on" oath or affirmation,
stating that (here is good reason to believe that any per-
son or persons have been guilty of a violation of this law, such
Justice shall issue a warrant against tho person or persons com-
plained of, notifying him, or them, to appear beforo him forth-
with, or in such time as the Justice u>ay think proper, and show
cause if any he or they have, why judgement should not bo ren-
dered against him or them, for the penalties incurred by this net;
and if found to bo guilty, judgement shall be rn.dered lor tho
peu.ilt) and costs, upon which execution muy immediately issue.
Provided, Ufa* either party may appeal to the District Court, as

Sec. 4 Be a further enacted, That where any person may
des:ro to obtain a license for a shorter period than one year, (and
not less tliali four months) the Treasurer may receive the a-
mount which would ha due lor the tima, adding thereto fifteen

the time corresponding with the amoiiHt which had been paid.
Sec. 5- Beit further enacted, That in no cases shall the offi-
ces of county clerk and Treasurer he-vested in one person, and

to his successor for all monies received by him.

Sec 1. Be it enocled by the Senate and House of Represen
Wives' of the Republic of Toxafi in Congress assembled, That
the provisions ol a joiut resolution, approved November 37th,
1841 granting fmther time for the payment of government dues
and the return of fluid notes, bo, and tho same is hereby extended
and declared in force nntil the first day of January, 1846.
Sec 2. Bo it further onacted, That this joint resolution take
effect from and after its pas^o.
