Board of Health intimates that the yellow fe-

The San Antonio Ledger of the 25th inst
contains some interesting news from Mexico,
furnished it by a couple of gentlemen just from
Zacatecas. We make the following extracts:
Santa Anna is prosecuting war measures
with much vigor. A tax of 12$ cents on each
individual member of families is enforced with
unsparing vigor, causing muoh distress and
complaint among the poor. An order feu
likewise been issued for the raising an army
for frontier defence to amount to 91,000 men.
All men able to bear arms are remorsely press-
ed into the service. His designs against the
United States are foreshadowed in the late
decree of Santa Anna, which enjoins all who
have suffered from Indian depredations, to
present their claims at the city of Mexico,
lie intends to demand restitution under the
treaty of Guadaloupe Hidalgo. This order
has given rise to immense fraud. Many claims,
where injuries to the amount of $50 liave
been sustained, are swollen to $1000.
Four of the largest States, Guanaxuato,
Guadalajara, Morelos and Chihuahua have
pronounced against Santa Anna.
While our informants were a Zacatecas
$000,000 were shipped to Tampico. The
amount usually shipped every four months is
about $1,000,000. The exportation duty on
specie, when leaving the country, is 0 per cent.
From State to State, 1£ per cent.
It is generally believed that Zacatecas will
declare against Santa Anna.
It is cxpccted that the services of a
sacramental meeting will, commence at the
courthouse, in this town on Friday evening
next, proceeding the 2d Sabbath in September
next, by the C. Presbyterians.
