Ragball Tournament
Mitchell County Girls Softball Association
is holding a ragball tournament at Ruddick
Park in Colorado City on March 18-20.
Cost is $lO per player. For more informa-

Saturday, March 19
Medication Cleanout
If your medicine cabinet hasn't been
cleaned out in awhile (or ever), a chance to
do so is coming up. On Saturday, March 19,
a Medication Cleanout will be held at the
Sweetwater High School. It will take place
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be done as
a drive through. The cleanout serves as a
way to keep families safe from the threat of
poisonings, abuse and misuse prevention,
and as a way to protect the environment.
The service is being provided free of charge
and is being supported by the Sweetwater
Police Department and Sweetwater ISD.

Ragball Tournament
The West Texas Threat, 10 and under
select Softball team will be having a rag-
ball tournament fundraiser beginning at
1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, at Fraley
Park. Orange division will be third grade
through fifth grade and black division will
be sixth grade through eighth grade with
five girls and five boys to a team (form
your own team). Entry fee per team is $100

Registration for Early Head Start and
Hea< Start classes for the 2011-2012 school
year will take place on Tuesday, March
22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at J.P. Cowen
Early Childhood Center, located at 700
W. 4th Street, in Sweetwater. Bring child's
birth certificate, social security card, shot
record, family prof of insurance and family

Hendrick Hearing Health Care will be at

Ragball Tournament
The St. Elizabeth Ragball Tournament

Masons
The third annual Masonic Lodge
#571 dinner benefitting the West Texas
Children's Advocacy Center will be held
from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March
26, 2011, at the Nolan County Coliseum
Annex. Barbecue sausage and chicken with
all the trimmings will be served. Tickets
are 10 each. There will be a silent auction
that will close at 7 p.m. There will also be
entertainment.
Book Signing
Hastings Entertainment in Sweetwater
will be hosting a book signing for Travis
Monday and his book, "Wings, Wasps and
Warriors," from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday,
March 26. The store is located at 1102 E.
Broadway.
Golf Scramble
The Big Spring Countiy Club and the
United Way will hold a three-person
scramble on March 26-27, Entry fee is $60
per player plus golf cart. Private carts are
welcome. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun
start both days. Entiy includes barbecue
on the course Saturday at noon, 19th hole
party on the patio (sausage wraps will
be served) and free beverages. Practice
rounds are available Friday with golf cart
extra. Field will be flighted by first round
score. Number of flights determined by
number of entries. Optional cash player
pool will be available for both Saturday
and Sunday. A 2011 golf cart will be raffled
off on Saturday at the 19th hold party.

Thursday, March 31
Free Colon Cancer Screening
Hendrick Cancer Center of Abilene
will be at the Sweetwater-Nolan County
Health Department from 9 a.m. to noon on
Thursday, March 31, 2011 to give free colon
cancer screenings. A fecal occult blood test
is a simple at-home procedure that checks
a stool sample for hidden blood, which
can be a sign of cancer, polyps or other
internal disorders. The American Cancer
Society recommends that men and women
begin regular testing for colorectal cancer
at age 50.

Child Abuse Awareness Banquet
The West Texas Children's Advocacy
Center's annual Child Abuse Awareness
Banquet will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, April 5, at the Nolan County
Coliseum Annex. Sponsorships are avail-

March Art Exhibit
March is Youth Art Month and the March
art exhibit at the County-City Library is the
artwork of Sweetwater art students. The
hours for the library are Monday from 1-6
p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to
1 p.m.

Volunteers are the heart of Hospice and

Life After Loss Series
West Texas Rehab's Hospice of the Big
Countiy will be providing a 6-part series
called "Life After Loss" for individuals
who have lost loved ones in the past two
years. This is open to the public. The goal
is to provide participants with appropri-
ate information and peer support through
the grieving process. Most people who
attend find the information and support
tremendously helpful. It starts Thursday,
March 10, 2011 at the First Financial Bank
Building located at 201 Elm, Sweetwater

Library Donations for Book Sale
The County-City Library is currently
accepting donations for the annual book
sale which will be held Friday and Saturday,
April 15-26, 2001 at the Nolan County
Coliseum Annex. Come to the garage door
in the alley behind the library to unload
the donations during business hours. Call
235-4978 a few minutes before arriving
at the library to enable staff to be ready to
help. The library hours are Monday from
1-6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m.
Veterans Assistance
Goodwill Industries of West Texas
was just awarded a grant from the Texas
Veterans Commission to support Veterans
ad their families. This support includes
employment services and training, family
and individual counseling, financial assis-
tance, family and child service, emergency
care and assistance and transportation
assistance. They also work very closely with
all other military support organizations to
aid veterans and their dependents. They
work as a partnership to find whatever
assistance that is available. Contact Chuck

Free English Lessons
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
day Saints is offering free English classes.
Starting on the first of March at 6 p.m.,
they will be holding a free, structured, no
obligation English class at the Church.
The class will be held every Tuesday and
