Big Country Dance
The Big Country Dance will be held from
7:30-10:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, at the
Nolan County Coliseum Annex. Admission
is $5 per person and entertainment will be
provided by Muddy Creek.
Summer School Registration
Sweetwater High School will have reg-
istration for summer school on Monday,
June 6 and Tuesday, June 7 from 9 a.m.
until noon in the high school counseling
office. Any high school student who failed
a core course is required to attend summer
school to make up lost credits.
Lady Mustang Basketball Camp
Lady Mustang Basketball Camp will
be held from 9-11:30 a.m. each day from
Monday, June 6, to Thursday, June 9, 2011,
at the Sweetwater Middle School Gym,
located at 305 Lamar Street. Camp fee is
S35 and girls will be able to improve their
skills in basketball through instruction in
individual skills and team competitions.
The camp is for grades first through sev-
enth based on the 2010-2011 school year.
Pre-registration is appreciated and a con-
cession stand will be available.
Mustang Basketball "amp
The 2011 Mustang Basketball Camp will
be held Monday through Thursday, June
6-9, at Sweetwater High School with two
sessions. Students completing grades 3-5
will attend from 9-11 a.m. each day, while
students who are completing grades 6-8
will attend from 1-3 p.m. A camp fee is $30,
and campers must sign a release form and
show proof of insurance. All participants
in the camp will receive a T-shirt and bas-
ketball. Water will be provided, but each
camper may bring a sports drink if they
choose to do so.
Tuesday, June 7
Summer Reading Program
The County-City Library will kick off the
summer reading program with Reading
Magic with Harlin Rhoades at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, June 7, for all ages. Pick up read-
ing logs to keep track of books read this
summer. Call 235-4978 or visit www.sweet-

Let's Talk Books
Let's Talk Books, the book club of the
County-City Library, will meet at noon on
Tuesday, June 7, in the meeting room. The
book selection is "Mennonite in a Little
Black Dress," by Rhonda Janzen. Sack
lunches will be provided for the first 12

Summer School
Summer school for elementary schools
and middle school students will be at
Sweetwater Middle School. Registration is
on Tuesday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at
SMS. Summer school begins on Wednesday,
June 8, and ends Thursday, June 30.
Mini Mustang Cheer Camp
Cancelled
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the
Mini Mustang Cheer Camp scheduled for
Tuesday, June 7 through Friday, June 10
has been cancelled. Though the camp has
been called off this year, the annual event
is set to take place next summer. For those
who had previously signed up and paid the
$35 for the cheer camp, please contact the
Sweetwater High School office at 325-235-
4371 for refunds.
Free Workshop
The Texas Tech Small Business
Development Center will conduct a free
workshop on Starting Your Own Business.
This workshop will provide a basic under-
standing of how to develop a new business
and th< egal steps required to start your own
business. This workshop is Tuesday June 7,
from 4-6 p.m. The workshop will take place
in the Texas Tech Conference room located
on the 6th floor of the Enterprise Building,
500 Chestnut. Seating is limited for this
free workshop so please call 325-670-0300
to reserve your space.
Wednesday, June 8
Library Garden
The public is invited to dig up some
good books at the County-City Library at
10 a.m. on Wednesday^ June 8. Come for
stories and fun while digging in the garden.
Activities will take place for children ages
three years to fifth grade. Call 235-4978 or

\dult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 at the
County-City Library. Instructors will help
you learn to read, improve your reading
skills, improve your English skills or help

Story Hour
Story Hour for parents and their children
will take place at the County-City Library
at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 9. Library
staff will lead the parents and children,
ages babies through five years, in stories

Baby Sitter's Safety Course
Texas State Technical College will have
a baby sitter's safety course for students
ages 12-16 who care for children from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011,
at The Center at TSTC. The cost is $75
and includes the class, lunch, a first aid
kit, a baby sitter's guide and an American
Heart Association's CPR/'First Aid Course
Completion Certificate. Those attending
will learn American Heart Association CPR/
First Aid, tornado safety, personal safety,
fire safety and preparing nutritious and fun

Chamber Luncheon
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce
will have their annual appreciation lun-
cheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday,
June 10, 2011, at The Center at Texas State
Technical College. There is no charge for
chamber members. RSVP by June 2, to
235-5488.
Softball Tournament
The Sweetwater Slow-Pitch Softball
Association will be hosting a men's and
co-ed softball tournament on Friday, June
10 and Saturday, June 11. They will also be
starting a summer league on Monday, June
20. All are invited to participate. For more

Saturday, June 11
LSBC Vacation Bible School
Lamar Street Baptist Church will have
Vacation Bible School on June 12-16 each
evening from 6-8:30 p.m.; the theme is
"Hometown Nazareth". There will be early
registration at the Sweetwater Pool from
11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11
to register children Pre-K through sixth
grades for VBS. Come let your child take a
swim while you register them. If you have

Open Bass Tournament
The second annual Open Bass
Tournament at Lake Sweetwater will take
place from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.
on Saturday, June 11. Entry fee is $25 with
Calcutta $10 and 100 percent pay back plus
donations from local merchants. Number
of awarded places depends on the number
of donations and entries. Last year, nine
places were paid. The tournament is in
memory of Bo Bodine.
Rhema Valley
County Gospel singer Sandra Dee will
be in concert at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June
11, at Rhema Valley Church in Sweetwater.
Sandra Dee was selected as Female Vocalist
in 2009. The public is invited to attend.
Monday, June 13
Trinity Baptist VBS
Trinity Baptist Church will be holding
their Vacation Bible School, Big Apple
Adventure, from June 13-15. Times are
1-4 p.m. daily, with early registration at
noon on Monday, June 13. There will be
lots of fun, crafts, games and Bible study
during this time. A special treat is planned
for the final day (Wednesday). The church
will have a water slide and hot dogs as well
as parents' night. Big Apple Adventure
is offered for Kindergarten through
Grade 4 age groups. In addition, Trinity
offers VBX for fifth and sixth graders this
year, Transportation and pre-registration
can be arranged by calling the church at
235-2991. The church is located at the cor-
ner of Hailey and Santa Fe Streets.
Tuesday, June 14
Masons
Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will
have a stated meeting on Tuesday, June
14. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the
meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Officers
will also be elected for 2011-2012.
Wednesday, June 15
Sweetwater Youth Football
Open registration for any players inter-
ested in youth football grades Pre-K through
sixth grade will take place at 6 p.m. on
Wednesday, June 15, at the Sweetwater
Lions Club building on Lamar Street. Cost
is $100 for tackle and $60 for flag. A pay-
ment plan with $50 down is available and
scholarships are available. Team limited
to 24 players per tackle team and 14 for
flag. Players assigned by date and time of
signup.
Saturday, June 18
Benefit Brisket Sale
The Sweetwater Firefighters Association
will be having a benefit b isket sale begin-
ning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18. 2011,
at the Trinity Baptist Church fellowship
hall. The Association is looking to purchase
wild land gear for the Sweetwater Fire
Department due to the many recent grass
fires in the area. Each plate will consist of
brisket with all the trimmings. There is no
set cost for the plates, just donations of any
amount.
Monday, June 20
Mustang Tennis Clinic
A Mustang Tennis Clinic for students
completing grades 3-8 will be held Monday
through Thursday, June 20-23, at the
Sweetwater High School tennis courts. The
hours of the clinic will be 8-11 a.m. Students
will need to bring a tennis racquet, water
bottle and sun screen. The cost of the clinic
will be $35. For more information, call

Mustang Golf Camp
A Mustang Golf Camp will be held
Monday through Wednesday, June 20-22,
at Sweetwater Country Club from 9-11:30
a.m. each day. Discounts are available for
families who have two or more children.

Friday, June 24
Tennis Event
Sweetwater will host a Black Gold Tennis
Circuit Challenger event on June 24-25.
Entry fee is $25. Players may enter up to
two events, including one singles and one
doubles. Entries must be in the hands
of tournament director Sheila Arnwine at
least seven days before the tournament
begins. Events will be held in boys and girls
singles, boys and girls doubles and mixed
doubles. More information on the tourna-

Kids Fishing Tournament
The second annual Kids Fishing
Tournament at Lake Sweetwater will take
>lace from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25.

ages 3-16. Each group will have winners for
big fish, small fish and most outstanding
angler. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m.
Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided
for competitors during awards. Entry fee
is $5.
