VA Medical Center
Recently, the VA Medical Center in
Albuquerque, N.M. sent out letters to
veterans in Nolan County that receive
care there that cash would no longer
be issued for travel pay and reimburse-
ment would be made by check or elec-
tronic funds transfer within 10 days of
the completion of travel. After working
with several agencies, this in not entirely
true any longer. According to Wanda P.
Cox, Acting Chief, Health Administrative
Service, there will be a contingency plan
for any emergency and these will be
reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The
veteran will be provided with funds to get
him/her home with the remainder being
sent to them via check of EFT. Veterans
thinking they may need the cash for their
return trip from New Mexico should con-
tact Wanda P. Cox at 505-256-6431 or
505-265-1711 ext. 4708.
