rloof the people of Norther# Tex*#, in again call-
C,I to the fiteiliMoa for effertjng s ch an object, pre-
sented by tho column# of The Standard. Tho on*
lv public Journal published in the Red Rivor re-
gion of Texua, it hat almoet an exclusive circula-
tion in the Countiot of Bowie, Titus, Ilopkini,
Red River, Lamar, Fannin, Grayson, Cooke, Den-
ton, Collin, Hunt, and Dallas, besides a scattering
circulation, in contiguous Counties. Its entire oir
culation is larger than that of any other Journal
in the Stuto. cast of fho Trinity River; and it is
believed only equalled by that of one other Jour-
nal within tho State; and it is steadily increasing.
Those, who may, for any object, wish to arrest the
observation of tho citiaens of one of the most
densely settlod sections of tho State, tho pro-
ducts of which, are in the east, and along the Red
Rivor border Cotton,of which it makes largo crops;
in tho westerly, and southern portions, wheat, corn
and Boef, would do well to avail thomsolvos of our
columns. Wo mftko no effort, by perspnAl solici-
tation in tho commercial Cities, to obtain a largo
array of business carils, but wo can glvo a circula-
tion to them, in tho Northern section of Texas,
which no other public Journal can, by a differ-
enco of ten to one. Wo have travelled leisurely
over tho District, and Avion) tho circulation of all o-
thcr Journals within it. Legal gentlemen in tbe
several county Towns, would do well to avail
tlicinsolves of our columns, as a directory to per-
sons abroad, who may have business at their sev-
eral localities.

The high character of tho Court during tho timo
embraced in tlieso volumes; tho grout number of
cases involving the most important principles of
tho civil law, as It obtained prior to the acquisi-
tion of Louisiana, and subsequently, which are
passed upon; the learned and able briefs of tho
eminent counsel then at the bar, renders this
work of the greatest importance, in all those
States and Territories formerly under tho juris-
diction of Spain; while, at the same time, the
notes afford a ready reference to the subsequent
adjudications of the Supreme Court of this
State.
The original twenty volumos, comprising all the ea-
ses of tho Supremo court of Louisinna.from 1809

It is the intention of tho publisher to follow it up

new editions of the CIVIL CODE and CODE
OF PRACTICE; In tho luttcr works it is pro-
posed to publish tho originnl text entire; fol-
low each article with the statutory amendments
entire, and the decisions of tho Supremo Court

Such works wiil require great labor and care; and
as they will be executed under tbe immediate u-

especial attention of the profession. Somo pro-
