Trade
this week has been fair. The weather
has been agaiust it, the sun only coming
out yesterday morning. Yet two or
three houses have done a good business.
Yesterday, muddy as it was, we were sur-
prised to see so much cotton on the
streets. The receipts since last Thurs-
day night toot up 707 bales; previous
receipts 2,230; Total 2,937.
Cotton comes here from Titus, Frank-
lin, Lamar, Bowie, aud Little River ooun-
tv. Ark., besides our own large county
production. Clarksville has the reputa-
tion of giving better prices than any oth -
er town iu Northern Texas.

Our Episcopal pastor, the Bev. Mr

larger salary is offered for his services,
this, only in part governs his movement.
An equally good compensation was offer-
ed at Port Worth, and also a call from
Holly Springs. Miss., but he believes that
the cluuatic influences of Columbia will
suit Mrs. Whilteu better than Ibis more
southern clime. Columbia is the site of
the Missouri State University, and of
some female colleges, and is the centre
of a refilled population. W« Imagine
